What should we do after exercising? Should we cleanse with cucumber and/or moisturize with coconut? if not, please advise!

Hi Goracergo,

I am Del, nice to meet you. I have been reading your posts since June on the acne forum. You are one of my favorites, I acturally seek out to read what you have posted! (am I an addict or what!)

I remember Wai saying to not cleanse more than 1 or 2x a day. I also heard her say to cleanse with the bottled water only a lot. I am female and I wear make-up every day so I use a mild non-friendly Wai cleanser every day to remove my make-up then I wash with bottled water and rosewater. Thanks to you and Veronia I now use coconut oil as my moisturier(the kind you recommended...thanks)and I love it. I do not have a severe acne problem so take every thing I say with a grain of salt! My biggest problem seemed to be redness and a few pimples now and then. Thanks to reading the forums I finally know what causes it! My total skin is now so much better, I do not reconize myself with almost no red!

I know it was discussed on the forums but I missed it...Do you know a Wai friendly cleanser to remove make-up. I know you are a guy and don't need it but I was hoping you would remember. Or maybe someone else reading this knows. Also I need a Wai-friendly shampoo and cleanser for the body. Have you one to recommend? I ordered the bar coconut/cucumber soap from the same company that sells the coconut oil and did not like it! Are you still liking the Giovanni golden wheat shampoo? What about the Monoi soap. Did you use it and did you like it?

You only need to cleanse with cucumber oil / rosewater when your skin does not get clean by water alone; if there is a layer of pollution and dirt on your face.
But regular sweat is easily washed off by taking a shower because sweat is water (with salt etc) too.

So sweating only requires a shower, just like pure mud, while more fatty dirt, like the pollution from cars etc. requires a real cleansing agent.

Personally I feel that my skin needs a drop of oil after every time i was it with water, but if the protective layer on your skin is still intact, you don't need the extra oil.
So it is really upon your own judgement; how does your skin feel at that moment? does it need the extra fat / protection, or is it fine just like it is?

Del, you need a makeup remover that does not make your skin too dry or sensitive. Look for one that contains the least bad chemicals when compared to others.

You need one that does not promise to also moisturize your skin or whatever, just one that only cleans your skin. No extra promises, no extra chemicals.

Yes Wai, I am looking. I was hoping for someone that had already done the research and let me know what they had found. Has that research been done yet?

Hi Del, I feel like I am following you around this morning! I wrote a lot about cleansers on the Voy forum, the one I use is called Sweet Birch from this site It's really the same as their White Oak cleanser, but more economical. I use it for face and body. Also, the Giovanni shampoos are fine for face and body, really gentle. Others (esp. Meg) really like the Cetaphil bar for sensitive skin (not the liquid).

Thanks Del and Wai!

You actually seek out my posts, that is scary. You've got it bad my dear Del, the only way to rid yourself of this terrible disease is "operation weening." Operation weening consists of slowly weening you off my posts. So instead of reading 10 of my posts in a day, only read 9, and so on and so forth. Only then can you truly realize how idiotic and absurd my posts sometimes are. It is very nice to meet everyone from the voy forum, I feel sometimes like I dont know anyone here. But we will all grow closer together to reach one final goal: to help others eliminate acne.

tis a noble goal dont you think?

Okay, I feel better now. I finally got my very own post from Adam!

I have enjoyed your posts. You are funny and serious at the same time. You have good questions and you do great research! I have missed you while you were out with your new found love! I am very happy for you that you have had such great results with the diet.

We do have a noble goal of passing this own to the rest of the world, but my main reason for reading Wai is for Osteoporosis. Can I stay in your little group seeing as I don't have anyplace else to go?

I think I am already over searching for your posts now that we have this site. It is so much easier to find the info you want. All the good stuff on the other site was where you, V2 and Wai were so I always skimmed down to find you guys. Of course my only reason for being there was to read what Wai had to say about anything!! I discovered that my redness on my face was acne and that I did have a problem but not to the extent of some of you! My hat is off to you and the others for your success!

Hello everyone! I was just reading through your posts. First of all, I'm assuming that the "oil" being referred to is Monoi oil, correct? Why I have yet to purchase it is beyond me!

Also, Del, I notice you are a Virginian. I, too, am one! Let me guess...Tidewater, NOVA, or Richmond? (most of our populous reside in one of those three, but I am an exception!)

I am 30, and am more than OVER battling this acne war! I am also OVER paying a dermatologist to hear the words, "you need to be on Accutane since you are 30 and nothing else has worked," when my acne is not cystic nor severe. Hair loss, depression, vision problems, cracked, bleeding skin, more scarring? Nah, I think I'll keep talking to my friends on the message board, thank you very much!

Wai's diet is something I will do at some point, but when my life settles down a bit (too many bday parties, weddings, reunions, and other "temptations" going on for me to be true to her diet at this juncture).

Until then, I'll keep reading, and posting...and meeting great people on here full of advice and encouragement! Unfortunately, I will begin teaching in a week, and will be incredibly busy by then so do not forsee being able to post and/or read as much when that starts!

Take care!
AS (aka Ange)

Hi Ange, we are kind of talking about coconut oil in general. I have been using the monoi oil (refined, cannot be eaten) as a moisturizer. Goracergo found this great virgin coconut oil (get it here) which you can both eat and use as a moisturizer. That site has great links to research on the health benefits of pure coconut oil. Del has been using it, and I just recently got some. I find it is as good as the monoi for my skin and it tastes great, especially in a fruit shake. Plus, the company has great customer service, kind of rare these days.

I'll be sad when you start your job, I hope you can manage to check in once in a while?

Goracergo,

You are so sweet, and you have put me in great company! Just hope I can meet the high standards. I thought you HAD met the woman of your dreams!! If not, I'm sure she will be there soon just be patient. As for me, I have been very happily married for 40 years. Did I say that!! I also have a 21 year old grandson. (I can't believe I said that!)

Asaint,

I was smiling all the way through your post! Yes, I have noticed that you live in Va. I am in Richmond. Where are you? You are certaintly ahead of the game by finding Wai and her theory! I love your attitude. My thoughts exactly! I am bucking the doctors. They all want to put me on some sort of medication for osteoporosis. They are sure I will crumble if I don't take it. I am saying it's my life and my bones and I will make the decisions, thank you very much! I am on my own mission for my daughter and granddaughters. Someday I hope they will see that the very food we eat is what's causing so many health problems.
We will miss you Ange while you are teaching. Such a great profession! Come back when ever you can!

Veronica,

I ordered the Greenlife machine from the site you gave. Had the best price! Can't wait til it comes! It comes with all those things you said you got! How do you and Wai do that thing you do. You know, put someting in parenthesis like.. (site)... and it is a link to a site?

That is one great machine, Del, I hope you love it. To do a link:

1) When you are posting a reply, look below the white box where it says "Instant UBB Code" Click on the button that says "URL"
2) A grey message box comes up and you enter the complete link there and click "OK"
3) A grey message box comes up again and you enter the text you want to be displayed in your post (you know, the word in purple)

Goracergo is a great guy, isn't he? What an asset to the board

OK, I must have had a crying and/or squirming baby on my lap (as usual) when I sent that last post, b/c it became very obvious to me afterwards that the "oil" in reference was coconut! Thanx for clearing that up, V! By the way... you've talked about using Elicina, Monoi, and Coconut oils. Which has been the most successful in treating your scars?

Del... ok, I knew it! You live in one of those 3 areas of the state I mentioned before! I have many friends who moved to Richmond after relocating from a small town to the "big" city! I'm about 3 hours from you in the mountains near w.va. I grew up here, but left after h.s. to live in several states before returning here to my roots...something I never thought I would do, but having kids changes everything! But anyway, it's so nice to meet you, and good luck with your quest to battle your disease through natural methods!

Hey Ange, you're up late, I just caught your post. Did you see Meg's good news! Wow!

As far as scars, I'd have to say the Elicina, but I tried the monoi and coconut after that, so they had very little to work on. I used the Elicina for about 8 months, it did wonders for the damage I had from the laser, got rid of of ice pick and shallow scars and reduced my two deeper scars by half. It never did much for the little scars on my nose, but now the combination of Wai's diet and the monoi/coconut oil seems to be smoothing those out. I can't tell a bit of difference between the monoi and the virgin coconut oil.

Your baby must be keeping you up, huh? Sweet dreams, Ange.

Love,
Veronica

Exactly! He was the one keeping me up! That doesnt' happen too often, but daddy let him nap later, so it messed his sched. up a bit.

Maybe we should start a new thread dedicated to Elicina? That way new users can come in and see the results that you and Meg (and hopefully ME) have gotten from it. Take care!

So, elicina is an oil? I want to know more.

Ange, I love the area you live in. We go on road trips all the time to the mountains because we just have to get out of the city. We are country people at heart and planning to move to the Ozarks next year. Thanks for the good wishes. You too!

Veronica, thanks for detailing how to do that link stuff. I will try it next time I have a change!

Del... Moving to the Ozarks? Wow... Missori? Arkansas? We lived in Ark. for 3 years and visited the Ozarks one weekend. It reminded me of home so much, it made me so incredibly homesick! I always took the mtns. for granted...not anymore!
