i am thinking of going back on some supplements while maintaining the diet. my reason for wanting to do this is because even though the diet has cleared me 99%, i still sometimes get them little goosebump-like whiteheads and blackheads around the creases where my nose meets my face and a little around my mouth. im not in the least bit worried as i know this minor issue is due to my munch food selection that i eat 1 to 2 times daily. so, i figured, instead of eating munch foods every other day (which would most likely take care of the problem), why dont i just take a gram or 2 of b5 and possibly a multi-vitamin. my only concern is could this possible comlicate things and actually CAUSE acne? i dunno if i want to take this chance because i am 99% clear now and i would absolutely lose my head if i broke out all of a sudden. well--thats all. please reply ok people? tell me what you think.

I was thinking the same thing because I do get the occasional whitehead when I eat ANY meat. I don't like sashimi so my protein selection is pretty limited. Some people have had success with B-5 and red clover. I have tried the B-5 but not in combination with the Red Clover before I tried the diet. I have also tried the Guggul which seems to dry the oil but I did not see a significant change in the amount of pimples. I decided to wait until I came to some stability with the diet ie. when I can eat some munch food without getting acne. Otherwise, I will never know exactly what is causing the pimples. That will take time and patience however.

by the way, does anyone think that b5 taken long term could cause any serious damage to any organ? and, since b5 cuts down the sebum production, does that mean you age quicker? i notice alot that people with acne look younger longer than people without it.

Okay guys,

Here is my take on this for what it's worth. No science here, just experience. Alternative supplements have been what I have been doing for the last 20-25 years. Sell um, take um, you name it. I even had my own herb store at one time! And I am here to tell you that I have abandoned ALL supplements. NONE of them ever did anything that I could see. On this new way of life (Wai's Theory) my body has responded (where it did not on supplements) and I will never do another supplement again. It is just not worth it! They are expensive, can be dangerous and they don't work. I have been reading the theory since January and working towards changing a little at a time. Now I am doing it, with a few little areas not yet mastered. I will not give up until I have it mastered! For starters; almost the day I gave up the supplements the cramps in my legs went away and have not come back. Since I have mastered egg yolks (and o.o. to some degree), the rash on my arm that I have had off and on for 6 years and continuously for 18 months is gone!
The bottoms of my feet are like a baby's butt! My hair and skin is (almost)better than when I was 20! I don't want to sound ridiculous but I think .. no I will save those changes for when it really happens. Now if this theory (the theory consists of NO SUPPLEMENTS and no drugs) can do such wonders for me (a woman twice your age in some instances) What can it do for you! Go back and read the part on Wai's site about supplements! That was one of the first things I did and have never looked back. I don't even want to read the "new studies" on any supplements. Which is a change for me! I feel very content with this theory.

It is true however that excessive anything is harmful, but hen again; how much exactly is excessive in case of the B5?
When the blood-B5 level is elevated? (which seems to be the case in some B5 users) and if yes, how much elevated?
I guess we need to wait until proper scientific research has been done regarding this issue.
Taking megadoses might be totally harmless and safe you from years of acne-misery, but it also might eventually cause organ damage. We just don't know.

If there is less sebum or oil available to keep the skin flexible, then the outer skin cells will dehydrate sooner, since the sebum and oil protects the skin against dehydration. And when the skin cells dehydrate sooner, they die sooner, and thus are replaced by new cells sooner. Thus the renewal rate is increased. And since the stem cells of all cells can only multiply a fixed number of times, an increased renewal rate means that the aging of these stem cells is accelerated, and eventually no more new skin cells can be produced at a younger age than normally should be the case.

wai: i took b5 (between 2g and 4g) for about 4 months (or close to it) and i have used retin-a micro for about 7 months (on and off) but now i have stopped all together topicals, drugs, and supplements cold turkey. i dont take anything at all anymore. do you think that i could have accelerated the aging process of my skin to where i would actually be getting older looking skin much earlier in life? and also--does you're diet counteract the effects of aging on the skin and overall? i just turned 21 so i dont know why i even care about that, but i am just curious to find out. thanks again.
