Is there any link between sex and acne? or that all just a myth? I ask because I know hormones do play some factor and body builders who who steroids often get acne whereas they wouldn't if they didn't use them due to the affect it has on the body's hormones.

True, but our overall hormone levels do not change due to sex / masturbation. It is mainly about a swift in neurotransmitter metabolism.
Once you are totally clear, you can easily test this yourself; by having no sex during one week, and then having sex every day during the next week , and see whether that makes any difference (while maintaining a 100% strict diet)

Bodybuilders can even influence their hormone levels without taking hormones because the strong increase in muscle mass requires more metabolic hormones; that is why they even more easily get acne if they don't take hormones, just because in bodybuilders the level of metabolic hormones is elevated. (stimulating sebum production)

As for the sex, that is one thing I haven't be abstaining while trying to maintain the diet, however, I never knew that not having any sexual activity was a guideline for the diet.

I think it does. I've read way too many posts about people who clear up when they stop masturbating or having sex. It doesn't effect everyone like food but I'm sure it effects some people.

Seth, Wai didn't meant that abstaining from sex was a guideline for the diet. She just meant that after you get completely clear, you could test it for yourself if you are really curious. I don't think I want to know - either way, it could end up being pretty stressful in the long run!

That's what I have heard, too, Virtuoso, which is why I was asking the question. I don't want to engage in any activity that would compromise my goal of becoming 100% clear on Wai's diet.

I don't think there is a connection.

Why do you think nobody thought of it before that cooked foods and salt cause acne?

Because it is extremely confusing and very hard to tell what exactly can cause acne until you have managed to totally clear your skin by first eliminating everything that can cause acne.
Before that, you are really speculating all the time what caused that new pimple.
If this was not the case, then my diet would have been invented by milions of people.
So the conclusion must really be that it is very hard to tell what causes your acne until you have managed to clear your skin totally.

If you can manage to totally clear your skin by diet and abstaining from sex / masturbation and then can cause new acne by having sex / masturbating and then can eliminate that acne again by refraining from sex / masturbation, like clockwork, all the time...then I believe you.
Otherwise it is just speculation.

So, please do your experiments and tell me what the results are...

I know what the results are in my case (otherwise I would have a pimple regularly, even while on the strict diet)
