| speedy 08-16-2001 10:30 PM | This may seem somewhat strange, but my dentist is of the opinion that if you are prone to acne, your body is too alkaline, and developing cavities is much harder to do. I have never had a single cavity and I am 25. I am just curious to know if any of you guys have had any or have you noticed that you seem more impervious to getting cavities. I suppose, I am trying to test his hypothesis, because it sounds far fetched to me. |
| goracergo 08-16-2001 10:45 PM | This is an interesting supposition. As a young lad, I used to have cavities, but my skin was golden clear. Ever since puberty, I have never developed a cavity, which is strange because my oral hygeine is very similar to before puberty. Very interesting. |
| Wiseguy 08-16-2001 11:07 PM | Hey!? that could be true... Before puberty I had a number of cavities, though I am convinced I did not have them but that my dentist had drilled those holes himself because i never felt or saw anything (until he started drilling of course; at that time they did not use sedation here ) The dentists get paid by the number of cavities they fill, so the more holes they dril, the more money they make, good system huh?! Well, anyway, now I'm a big strong guy , so I don't think a dentist would dare to dril any new holes anymore |
| ASaint 08-17-2001 08:26 PM | Wow..interesting point. Most of my cavities I had were as a teenager, and although I did break out then, I did not nearly to the extent I did when I was in my 20's. I couldn't tell you the last time I had a cavity... probably been 10 years or more? (although a woman should never tell her age, I am 30, if you're wondering)lol. Anyway.. I went to the dentist last month for the first time in (uh hem) 4 years (yeah, shame on me!) and I was sure my teeth were just rotting out. Nope, I had absolutely 0, zilch, nada cavities and my dentist remarked on how healthy my teeth were. Yes, I'm still breaking out... hence, the reason I'm posting on this forum as opposed to a dental forum for people who have bad teeth!! |
| Speedy 08-17-2001 09:53 PM | Thanks for the responses guys. So far it would appear that my dentist has some validity to what he was saying. How interesting... |
| BrilloPad 08-23-2001 07:18 PM | I only have had 1 cavity in my lifetime, and that was as a child, but I still don't think it is because we are too alkaline, because anyone eating the SAD (standard American diet) is usually way to acidic. Hey Wiseguy, are you Wai's boyfriend? Just curious.... |
