i read wai's remark that she thinks many people with acne are thin maybe related to hormone production and stuff
i think maybe she is right i hear all the time people with acne saying "i am thin"
so please tell me are you thin or could you lose a few pounds?

Hi Zimple,

Yes, I am thin. I have been told all my life that if I don't eat something I will dry up and blow away! I don't have a serious acne problem but do see that Wai is right about foods dictating the condition of your skin!

I'm thin. I use to eat like a horse too until I discovered it made my face bad.

I know one person who's chubby/fat and has acne. It's not serious and he lives a very wild lifestyle so he might not count. He's losing hair too, at the age of 22.

So what's better? Having acne or being overweight? I'd take the overweight anyday! I can work that off much easier.

I have always looked thin, even when I weighed more. I have that mesomorph body type, so people always think I weigh about 20 pounds less than I really do. But I always watched my weight, my whole family is overweight and I didn't want to end up that way. It got harder as I got older, I had to eat less and excercise more. Then, a couple of years ago I started that Raw Foods diet and I dropped below my high school weight, even though I was always cheating on that diet, it was way too hard. Now, Wai's diet is so much easier, I got down to my setpoint weight, and the scale does not budge. I am thin for real now.

After seeing Wai's height and weight, I had to edit to say I am NOT thin. I should probably say lean, like Wiseguy.

Wow, all those thinnies in here!
I'm thin too!!!
And yes, virtuoso, for us it would be very easy to lose overweight indeed!
Like Veronica, I have reached my setpoint weight (124 to 126 lbs ; 6 feet tall)

I am thin too. I don't know how much I weigh, yet I have definately dropped even more weight since being on the diet. I am 5'8" and wear a size 5 in jeans, yet my size 5 jeans are very loose on me now!

I guess I am not really thin, since weight 188lbs with 10% bodyfat and am a tad under 6'0". I do recall in high school seeing some of the overweight kids with acne, but it eventually all went away, whereas mine did not. I guess there is a possible correlation between the two, though when I was nearing 220lbs (14% bodyfat) last year from bulking up doing super slow training, I didn't lose my acne at all, so I really don't know how valid the premise really is.

Seth, I agree that acne is absolutely not excluded to thin people, but there may be some over-presence of thin people amongst the acne patients.

And when you bulk up muscles (and some fat), this of course does not mean your hormone- or energy metabolism changes...

Well, I'm lean, so I guess that falls in the thin category, right?

Hey everyone! Good to be here! Anyway, I was just about to write that I am thin also, but then I saw the weight of some of you who posted and realize I'm not nearly as thin as a lot of you guys! :-) I guess I'm a lot like Veronica (hey there!) who has the body type where I look pretty thin, but weigh more than people think I do.

Here's an interesting tidbit: I have 3 siblings. Of the 4 of us, 1 of my sisters has ALWAYS struggled with her weight. Guess who has the clearest skin while the other 3 have battled acne? You guessed it...my sister with the weight problem. I would not trade my body for her skin though, because no matter how much she works out, and no matter what she eats, she always struggles. I would rather break out, quite honestly, if given the choice of "two evils."

I won't bother posting my weight...lol... but I do feel like I am on the thin side, and I never diet. If I did, I know I would be a walking stick! (I'm 5'9" and have very skinny legs!) ha...

I've always been up and down with my weight. In college I was the heaviest and that's when my skin was the clearest. But now I'm skinny and with this diet I'm getting really clear skin.

yep, i am also thin (and b5 made me even thinner).
Since i have acne, i check out the skin of others a lot and i also noticed this relationship between weight and acne.
But there is something else i noticed: (partly) bald males hardly seem to have acne as well. Or am i wrong?

Well... my hubby is partly bald, and getting balder,haha...and his face is really clear. HOWEVER, he has pretty significant acne on his back. It doesn't bother him in the least...nor does being bald. Wish I had his apathetic attitude sometimes!

I have always been thin, and after starting Wais diet I have lost a few kilos more. I am now at my setpoint, the one I had when I was a little bit younger.

I have to put my two sense into this matter. I was just a tad bit overweight as a child during the ages of 8-10 yrs old. Than when i turned 11 (which is when i started my menstruation) i lost weight. Than through my teen years i went up and down with my weight. Until i hit 16yrs old i dropped a tremendous amount of weight!!! and the older im getting the thinner im getting . I dont know if my acne is based on my weight though i think its more hormonal. Because i had periods where i wouldnt brake out. but this year during the month of March -May i had pretty bad acne just on my cheeks of my face
But now with b-5 and the Wai's diet im able to maintain a fairly clear face with plenty of scars!
Im 5'6 and i weight 140 lbs but when people look at me they think i weight 120 lbs its crazy!! i guess b/c i have such a flat stomach and skinny waist people get fooled by my appearance. Sorry this is sooooooo long but the subjects of acne and overweight have always interested me. oh by the way i go the gym but since i use Wai'd i dont go to the gym so much plus b/c im really busy. Well sorry for the length !!

I have seen many fat people with acne. My brother for one. Have to admit that now that he is super fat, he no longer has acne. But he is also older too. I have always been about 10-15 pounds overweight and have had acne off and on. Now that I have been the thinnest I have ever been due to Wai's diet, my face is also pretty clear. However, I am in the "testing non-diet food phase" so I break out with one or two every now and then. I don't think there is a relationship but possibly people who eat more fat and less protein but continue eating breads and pasta are more likely to be fat and more likely to have better skin.

You could be on to something with that, Sue. I have always craved protein foods, especially cheese, other dairy and meats and was not much into starchy foods like bread or pastries. So the food may have been good to maintain my weight, but awful for my skin.
