I was really glad to find out about this diet and the utilization of raw fish because I really love sushi. Some questions I do have though are: is it ok to eat the pickled ginger that is typically served with the sushi? I really love that stuff - I gave up the soy sauce cause I know that's not any good... but the ginger??? I hope not [Smile] Also, is some rice with the sushi ok, cause I like that too.

I'm guessing your response is going to be targeted as to what my goals are... Primarily, I'm interested in just eating a lot healthier, secondly it would be nice if my acne cleared up. My acne is actually not very bad at all... But if I stop using antibiotics, dr. perscriped facial wash, etc, etc, it will get worse - but in general, ways off from being severe. However, I've really been trying to get off any sort of perscription based "cures", and that's what has led me to this diet plan... The site provides a lot of really good/interesting reading... thanks for the contributions wai...

Welcome on the board! [Smile]

Regarding the antibiotics, please check out this thread: link

It CAN cause acne. the smart thing to do with acne, is to first clear your skin TOTALLY, and start experimenting with what ingredients / foods your skin can cope with without getting acne again.
That is why we designed the 'sample diet'.
First you do the sample diet, and once your skin is totally clear, you start t re-introduce the ginger back into your diet. If that goes well, you start to include some rice as well. and so on.

Question:

Does wild salmon vary in season? I live in NYC, and at some places I go to, they say that the wild salmon is frozen because it is out of season and the only fresh salmon availabe is the hatchery kind. I know we should avoid previously frozen salmon and the hatchery kind may have a lot of unnatural elements.

What's up with this? Can you give me any guidance, pretty please? I heard it is out of season because it is the Alaskan kind which is most common here.

I worry now when I go to my sashimi place in Brooklyn, that the salmon is the hatcher kind. (Their salmon is pretty good). Should I stick with tuna instead?

Also, when I put my diet in your nutritional thing, it seemed that I was missing a lot of needed nutrients.

I basically ate 2 raw eggs, one avacado, 12 brazil nuts, and various fruits (including tomato & cucumber) and I alternated with salmon. Is this okay.

Lastly, should I be avoiding pinapple and oranges due to their acidity (since I have acne now)? Thanks much!!!!

Yes.

Regarding acne, in that case, you should chose the raw hatchery kind.

That is an alternative. Personally, I prefer salmon over tuna. I like tuna, but whan I've eaten it a few times, I want my salmon again, despite that it is salmon from a hatchery.

Are your energy requirements met?

It might not be enough.

No. Acne is not caused by fruit acids.
Just make sure they are fully ripe.

If acne is no longer a problem and my main goal is to completly eliminate all cellulite, is it better to consume hatchery salmon or pre-frozen wild salmon? What about health/vitamin wise? (My cellulite is barely visiable in natural light-but if you squeeze my skin, there are places where bumps still exist. It was never bad, I'm just being anal.)

Hi Kikkie, welcome here.

hatchery salmon, because the 'dirty' protein in pre-frozen salmon can cause cellulite/acne, while the antibiotics residues and bad (recycled) fats in hatchery salmon cannot.

Health wise the wild pre-frozen salmon is better. (though there is no research about carcinogens in frozen food...)

Did you have acne when you started the diet? / are you on the diet yet?
