| bk 09-19-2002 06:12 PM | Hi, I'm curious, if one is sick with i.e. a cold/flu/etc., should they continue to consume raw animal foods? On one hand it would seem to make sense; one's body would still require all the nutrients animal food provides. On the other hand, raw animal foods can contain bacteria and/or parasites, which the body would then have to dedicate resources to deal with, possibly extending the length of the illness. (I do appreciate your assertions about the immune-system strengthening aspects of consuming animal foods.) So, what to do? Thanks, Brian |

It doesn't matter that your defense is then very busy with fighting (ie) a flue virus; its troops at 'the bacteria-front' remain where they are (because they are not skilled to fight the virus), and thus you still have no problem at all to deal with the bacteria. To exclude any risk of having to fight parasites, its is better to consume only fresh raw egg yolks when ill, and not fresh raw fish, except when you buy sashimi in Japanese restaurant. On the other hand, if you want to START with the diet, you first need to have recovered from (ie) the flu, before you start. |
