I would be interested in trying this diet except for I am vegan. Even if I wanted to eat the egg/fish I do not have the $ or opportunity to get the right quality.
Any vegans doing this diet?
Thanks

hey there fellow-vegan,
i'm also a vegan and i am doing very well on this diet. to be honest, i hate eating eggs and fishes because i am so sensitive to the raw odors. plus i have a hard time digesting them. but i find that there are like gazillions other options out there for vegans like us. may i recommend avocados - it's yummy and i guarantee you'll never be sick of it. another advice: take it one day at a time. at the beginning, i used worry a lot and thought to myself how am i going to eat the same foods day in and day out. but like wai says, the more fruits you eat, the more you want to eat them. so try not to think too much about the future and keep an open mind...good luck!!!!

1. Make sure to consume sufficient avocadoes and Brazil nuts. Brazil nut protein is the highest quality protein in the world, much better than that of beef for example. If you are not consuming animal food, the Brazil nuts are essential regarding protein.
Submit your diet to this nutrient calculator to make sure your diet is not low in any nutrient.

2. You need supplementary vitamin B12. Not much, but you need it.

3. You may also need supplementary vitamin D if you don't live in a sunny country.

If you want to try (later for example), you can eat the yolk of fresh regular supermarket eggs, which are not expensive at all.
Make sure they are fresh though.

I am a vegetarian and have acne. I want to try this diet. But I dont eat fish or meat or eggs.. so what should my daily diet be? Just fruits, nuts and salad with Olive oil? How much of each to remain healthy? I do not want to lose weight! On the contrary, I am underweight and would like to gain some healthy pounds.. Please advise..

I copied your post to this thread.
Above you can read my answer regarding eating no fish / egg yolks.

There is no way that I can tell you how much. you need to eat as much that you need the energy.
You also need to submit your version of my diet to our nutrient calculator, to check whether it supplies you with all required nutrients.

I will answer your question about weight gain in the 'gaining muscles' forum, okay?

Wai,
I find it absolutely impossible to eat raw egg, and where i live fresh raw fish is impossible to find, but in order to get enough B12 i eat the yolk of a boiled egg or a little cooked animal food as part of my munch food for the day.
Is that ok or do i still need B12 supplements?

Thanks!

would one get B12 from a fish oil supplement? Or is strictly for the essential fatty acids and fat soluble vitamins?

You shouldn't eat raw egg, but raw egg YOLK.
Everybody can eat it when you simply add the raw egg yolk (only the fluid contained in the sack) to fresh orange juice for example.
The first time you should add only one a few drops of egg yolk to one glass of orange juice, and then stirr thoroughly with a fork. Then you wount taste it all, or the only thing that you will taste, is that the juice tastes a bit more creamy and vanilla like. You will like it.
THAT IS ALL.
There is really nothing to it. Just do it, and you know what I mean. You should at least give it a try once...

After having tried once, you should consume it everyday and gradually add more yolk to the juice every few days.

That is enough regarding the B12, but it totally ruins this diet. It wount work then.

Ah i see [Frown] , but would it ruin the diet even if i take into consideration the protein contents of the egg yolk in order not to exceed the 15g you recommended? i.e. I wont eat munch food for that day. By the way, thanks for the great site wai! [Big Grin]

Carolyn,
Sorry for replying so late; I missed this post of yours!
there is another reason why you should not eat boiled eggs. Raw egg yolks are extremely high in good cholesterol (loads of good cholesterol is perfect, especially for women), but when you cook them, a part of it is converted into bad cholesterol, which can cause diseases of the heart and arteries.

Only the brain contains more cholesterol (twice as much) than egg yolks. Cholesterol contents of high cholesterol foods (in mg / 100 gram):

1,260 egg yolk
261 ox liver
158 crayfish
144 brownshrimp
140 crawfish
138 ox heart
123 oysters
43 salmon

Fish oils do not contain any vitamin B12...

.

FYI Part of this thread (the off topic part) has been moved to the Dictator Wai thread.

[Eek!] thats a whole lot of cholesterol! (This is not for me but for my family...if they will listen to me)...how many cooked egg yolks (& how often) are safe to eat without risking high cholesterol levels? Thanks!

I'm sorry, but nobody can possible tell (though some claim differently), because that is individually different. Some can eat 12 cooked eggs a day without adverse effects, while others can develop hypercholesteremia by eating only one cooked egg every once and a while.
It is as with acne: some people can eat any junk food and still have a perfect skin, while others break out from eating only one munch food.

ive read the whole online book about acne and cellulite and it makes soo much sense to me. in fact, im interested in trying it, but the problem is that it reccomends raw meat. im vegan, so i cant do that. but it also reccomends to not eat vegetables!! [Eek!] i cant see how the nitrate in vegetables could affect me, since im 99.9999% sure they dont cause my acne. can't i just eat raw nuts, LOTS of fruits, and vegetables, AND SKIP the raw meat? THANX FOR ANY HELP! [Big Grin]

Please read this thread, about eating Brazil nuts, taking B12 etc.

Nitrate doesn't cause acne, indeed.
But, in some, the enzyminhibitors in raw vegetables CAN impair your digestion and then cause acne.
Also, with this diet, you need to consume easy to digest and high foods to be able to ingest enough energy. And vegetables are neither. Consuming raw vegetables, this diet is even harder. (cooked / steamed vegetables cause acne)

Yes, you can.
But, you need to know that you need the B12 too, and you might need the good cholesterol to be able to maintain the diet. Also, it takes better food-combining to sufficiently ingest all the other nutrients as well. But, yes, you can.

yes, but it doesn't supply you with B12 and good cholesterol
you need fresh raw animal food for that (or a supplement for the B12)
3 fresh egg yolks a day is fine for you
