To gain muscle, should I increase the amount of fat relative to carbohydrates in the diet? I have seen some posts on this board suggesting 1 gram fat for 2 grams carbs; there are others suggesting 3 grams fat to to grams carbs. Is one approach better for gaining muscle?

Hey VColfari,

The ratio advised (2:1) is adviced in relation to stabilizing your blood sugar level in order to prevent acne (and the discomfort experienced with the too much fluctuating blood sugar levels).
How much sugars and fat you need for your energy metabolism, depends on how much physically active you are (and is aslo individually different); doing lots of intense exercises, you will need much more sugars. (for sugars are the source of energy for your exercising muscles)

That depends.
If your blood sugar level is not enough sufficiently stabalized, every second that your blood sugar level is a bit too low, you will be converting muscle tissue into available energy, which hinders you in maintaining / gaining muscle weight.

If you are relatively inactive (physically), a 2:1 ratio may be appropriate, but the more you work out, the more sugars you need (the lower the fat:sugars ratio).
