| Ryan 09-27-2002 03:27 AM | Wai Please help me out here. I am now on my 8th day of the "strict diet" i havent cheated once. My skin is smooth and the texture is a lot better, and my acne is clearing up, i only have 3 spots. But my flatmate has been observing my new eating habits, she has been ignoring me for the past few days. She even confronted me this morning and called me anorexic!! Which got me quite down. I have been trying my hardest to eat loads of fruit but its clear to everyone, and even ive noticed that my muscle is wasting away . My friend told me that the orange juice i have been drinking is only stripping my stomach lining and destroying my teeth. And she reckons im not getting enough nutrients etc... I am worrried because today i felt so weak, and my thoughts wernt clear and my eyes were glazed over. I glimpsed myself in a shop window and i looked like a wafer. I lead a very busy lifestyle, working and studying, i have no car so i walk and run everywhere, today i walked 5 hours which i know isnt going to be good for me. I want so badly to stay on your diet, but im losing so much weight its scared, and i was slim before i started the diet now im a stick figure. Please help me out Wai. Im 19 years old, 1.83cm tall and i weigh about 65kg and im a guy. I have typed my daily diet up in the "dried fruit, suundried fruit " topic. Thank you. ![]() |
| Wai 09-27-2002 02:13 PM | Boy oh boy, you need to make some drastic hanges: - A - You need to learn to keep on taking in energy constantly; you need to learn about the energy needs of your body. It needs to become a habit to remain constantly aware when it was that you have ingested energy for the last time. You need to learn to recognize lowering blood energy levels, and you can only do so by constantly consuming energy until you feel that your body does not need extra energy. So, take in energy until satisfied, by consuming juice (see next point). After 5 minutes you start drinking juice again, until satisfied. That way you learn what it is to feel satisfied with energy, and when you are low in energy. Maintaining energy levels needs to become your FIRST PRIORITY!!! - B - Instead of whole fruits, you need to consume AT LEAST 3 liq quarts of juice a day, and you MUST add about 100 to 150 gram sugar and 50 gram oil to every 1.5 liq. quart / Liter. This juice may be orange juice only, or juice from the juice extractor. (NO juices from the mixer / blender) Make 2 big bottles in the morning (or the evening before), so you can carry a bottle with you at all times. - C - You need to carry nuts (that you already have shelled yourself) and raisins with you at all times. - D - You need to increase the intake of fresh raw fish or fresh raw egg yolks to 100 to 150 gram a day (3.5 oz to 5.5 oz). Consume this fresh raw animal food at night, when you the time to watch TV, sit behind your comp, or somethinbg similar. - E - You can also carry bananas with you wherever you go. Bananas are the perfect combination with juice. - F - The first thing you must do in the morning, every morning, is drinking orange juice (with sugar and oil added). |
| Wai 09-27-2002 02:24 PM | quote:Please submit to the nutrient calculator: 3000 ml orange juice , and then press the "calculate nutritional value" button, and you will see what orange juice contains. The OJ keeps your teeth clean; just don't brush your teeth right after having drunk OJ. The oil in the OJ keeps your stomach happy too. |

| Ryan 09-28-2002 03:27 AM | a question Ed.....are you on this diet??If so how do you maintain your muscle? I had to climb in my friends house window today coz he locked his key inside, i was cool with that. But as soon as i went to pull myself up using my arms i coudnt do it...my arms were so weak and frail. I miss my muscles, i use to be able to do 15 pull ups now i struggle to do one!! urgghh. Ive been increasing my eating today, and i do feel abit better. I did have a sandwich for lunch today though, because i felt really bad. Just tomatoes, lettuce and a bit of raw meat, and bread so it shouldnt be to bad. Everyone is noticing my weight loss. My Aunty said i was turning into a shadow!! My grandma hadnt seen me in 2 weeks and freaked out. I really want to stay on this diet. I beleive it works...but im not so sure its safe to drink so much orange juice. A litre a day sound like a better idea i think. I might start the diet again from day one after my audition on Wednesday. Im still doing it but i did have that sandwich, oh and a croisant. Hope someone can help me out!! i cant find shelled brazillian nuts anywhere here in New Zealand....only walnuts!! are they good? Are sun dried raisins ok to eat??? or no? How do you guys maintain your weight....im fading away. But im going to eat some munch foods to keep me healthy until ive done audtion. thanks guys........... |
| Dawn 09-28-2002 06:06 AM | Hello Wai and Ryan, Would I be right in thinking that Ryan could very much increase nuts, avocados, oils, olives, and egg yolks rather than juicy fruits to stop losing so much weight? It seems to me that these are the "building" foods, with longer lasting energy and minerals which build up the body, and that fruits are more for short term energy. Obviously, we need ALL of these foods, but I'm wondering if his diet should be balanced more toward fats and proteins than sugars right now. So could he greatly increase the raw fats and raw proteins in his diet and still stay free of acne? Dawn |
| etwald 09-28-2002 06:36 AM | Hi Ryan, About the weight-increase: You need to eat more protein and do some workouts. 100g of raw fish or 5 or more egg yolks a day should be sufficienct.. I will join you: My muscles are diminished a lot also because I had a bad start on this diet.. I will now make sure to eat enough protein each day, but also enough fruit and fat.. Luckily my muscles haven't deteriorated that much: I can still do 30 push-ups.. Yesterday at my first indoor soccer match, I got tired so quickly.. I didn't like that a bit, because I always the condition of a horse.. But I will be able to get in good shape again on this diet.. I'm sure of that.. For the 5 hours of walking you do, you need about 1250-1500 kcal a day more.. That's about 200 g glucose + 100g fat you need more than other persons who don't walk that much.. If you weren't doing anything a day, you would need 2500-3000 kcal, say 3000. Next we add the 1500kcal for the walking.. The total is then 4500 kcal.. The main focus is to eat enough carbs and enough fats, so that way your body won't burn any more proteins.. Do some anaerobic workout. Pushups are perfect for this, weight lifting too.. A very easy way to gain muscles is to do the pushups without pausing. Each time you pause, your metabolism turn aerobic and there will be no muscle increase. If you continue on and on until you drop, your entire body (including your heart-muscle) will stay anaerobic and thus building muscle-mass. For weight lifting, start with the heaviest weight and when you really can't lift anymore, do not pause or stop. Immediately get the less-heavy weight and continue until you really can't go on, then again don't stop, but continue with the eaven lighter weight and so on.. Success guaranteed.. Good luck, Ed, The Netherlands Good luck, This message has been edited |
| Wai 09-28-2002 12:45 PM | Ryan, quote:The way of maintaining my diet that I proposed to you (at least 3 liq. quarts OJ; I was confused about the size of a gallon!), is the way of eating that my boyfriend maintains: He is 6 feet 3 tall (1.90 meter) and weighs 191 lean lbs (86 kilograms) athletically build (incl. fabulous washboard abs) During 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, he's physically hyperactive; speedwalking almost constantly, with making short turns. When he wants to gain muscle weight, he is much more strict about consuming enough juice all the time. When he is less strict about that, he loses that weight again; it is THAT simple. Yes, extra protein can help, but only gradually increase the intake of protein (by the week), so that you can see its effects on your skin; some even get acne by consuming too much raw protein (as my boyfriend does). My boyfriend utilizes lots of energy daily. Since about 7.5 years, he daily consumes (and he is doing perfectly; he's in great shape): - A - 4.5 liq. quarts (3 bottles) of orange juice (liter is about equal to liq.quart), with 100 to 150 gram sugar and 50 gram oil added to every 1.5 liq. quart. - B - one handful of Brazil nuts - C - 100 gram fresh raw fish or 5 egg yolks (sometimes more) - D - About 5 bananas. Instead of the bananas, he eats other ripe fruit when available. - E - One avocado quote:to get your Brazil nuts: http://www.nutsonline.com Walnuts are not okay because of their poor protein quality; you need a high protein quality. quote:sun dried fruits are perfect, but you need to eat them with fatty nuts. quote:BECAUSE YOU DID NOT DO THE DIET RIGHT!!! You simply ingested too little energy. If you submit your diet as described in the dried fruits thread to the nutrient calculator, you will see it supplies you with too little calories, which forces your body to convert muscle tissue into availab;le energy. To not fade away, you need to increase the intake of energy, and keep on drinking juice (with sugar and oil) all day; that is the easiest (and a very effective) way. Hope the munch foods wount make you break out! Munch foods can never 'keep you healthy' The food you are consuming is NOT making you lose weight. What is making you lose weight, is the fact that you are absorbing too little energy. To be able to ingest sufficient energy, you need to drink easy-to-digest juices with oil and sugar instead of whole fruits. Eating simply more fruits is not practical. My boyfriend has 7.5 years experience with this diet, and how to maintain / increase muscle weight with it. If he can do it, with his physical activities, you can do it too. |
| Wai 09-29-2002 12:57 PM | Dawn, quote:If he could simply eat more, he would have. The problem is that his intake of energy does not meant his needs for energy, which forces the body to breakdown muscles for energy. So, he needs to take in more energy, WITHOUT HAVING TO EAT MORE. This may seem contradicting, but let me explain: Simply eating more doesn't work in such cases, because you cannot eat more than you feel like, or have the time for. That is the same as for professional cyclists doing the 'Tour De France'; they burn so many calories that you cannot possibly eat enough to balance that, so they take liquid, highly caloric foods (and more ).The same goes for Ryan; he burns more calories than he can eat fruits, nuts etc. Orange juice does not contain fiber, and can therefore much easier be consumed than whole oranges; your body doesn't have to cope with the burden called fiber. AND, you can easily add sugar and oil to it, to increase its energetic value. Sufficient energy is the first priority to maintain or increase muscle volume. quote:We are talking about JUICE with bot sugar AND oil added; both short, and long lasting energy. quote:He also runs, which means that he especially utilizes more SUGARS. And when his walking is more like speedwalking, he also uses a lot of sugars. Yes, fats are great, and if he wants, of course he can add much more oil to his juice. What I adviced him to add to the juice, is what he can bear for sure. Once he has gotten used to that, he can increase the amount of oil added, if he has no problem with that. quote:There is a great chance that a too large increase of protein makes him break out again, and it does not have to be necessary. More fat is perfect, but not absolutely essential. More protein is something that he needs to experiment with very carefully. Taking in sufficient easy-to-digest energy needs to be his first priority. |
| Sanna 10-09-2002 04:07 AM | Your bf's diet..... is it really ok to eat just bananas and oranges (other fruit sometimes)? I have been on this diet for one year and 3 months now and I have been aeting all kinds of different fruits daily. Sometimes it would be a lot easier to just follow a more simplified version of this diet, like you listed above (juice, oil, avocado, nuts, bananas and yolks) but I'm worried I would be missing out on something... I do eat nuts, avocado and yolks EVERY DAY. I don't want to add sugar to my juice, just oil. I eat so much fruits and I don't excercise that much. Wai, do you eat all kinds of different fruits or do you eat mostly bananas and juice, too? How does he have time to run and walk so much....geez 8 hours? Do you walk 8 hours, too? What do you eat on a typical day Wai? |
| Wai 10-10-2002 06:47 AM | quote:The more different fruits you eat, the better. But if you are laxy, poor, or have too little time, you can eat only a few different fruits and be perfectly fine. The issue is whether you are absorbing all essential nutrients, and as long as the nutrient calculator says that you do, you will be fine regarding that. (and my boyfriend is) quote:Well, that is perfectly fine. Especially if you alternate that with eating a greater variety of fruits sometimes. quote:Simply submit your version of the diet to the nutrient calculator, and you will know. quote:I have a thing for strawberries, raspberries, blueberries etc. I loooove them. I'm not that susceptible to acne, so I can afford to blend them in a mixer with bananas (and some oil and a bit sugar); tastes sooo delicious. I also love egg yolks and avocado. I eat sashimi twice or 3 times a week. And I eat lots of dried fruits (dates, figs, raisins) and some Brazil nuts. I also drink orange juice. At night I usually eat a munch food item. quote:It's his job; He's an hyperactive floor manager of a very busy restaurant. He loves his job and to actively support the waiters as much as he can. | Timothy 04-03-2003 11:44 AM | Hello again! I'm on the diet for several days now and I'm afraid of losing weight. The problem is that I'm really tall ( 2 meters ) and my weight is only 65 kg!!! I'm VERY thin and muscels...aw..well forget about it . I want to maintain the diet stricly but without losing a pound. I've already read about drinking much juice with good sugar and oil, eating nuts and so on but is it enough in my case? I don't want to build muscles now but I want to gain weight. Any special tips?Thanx a lot!!! ![]() |
| Wai 04-03-2003 11:54 AM | quote:have you read the tips in my first post in this thread? Another tip is to experiment with increasing the intake of raw animal food (in many this poses no problem) a few basic conditions for gaining muscles / preventing weightloss: 1) ingesting enough calories in general 2) ingesting small amounts of energy constantly (and certainly not limiting your self to only a few meals a day) 3) balancing fats with sugars 4) consuming only easy to digest foods 5) ingesting enough protein 6) giving your muscles enough rest in between exercise, in order to enable them to grow 7) performing only muscle building activities, and no long lasting physical activities |
