| Carolyn 11-15-2002 04:54 PM | I found out that it contains only 0.4g protein per 100g what can you do with it lol???! can u use it for pastry etc? I tried looking around on the net but found nothing about it. 10x! |
| RRM 11-18-2002 03:37 PM | I was under the impression that corn flour is used a lot in Latin American countries to make bread etc. Maybe our 'Mexican connection' (Julian Farah, Karen and Jaswant) knows more about this? There MUST be corn flour recipes on the web. |
| karen 11-26-2002 06:31 PM | If it´s the corn flower to make tortillas, I seriously doubt that it has so little protein, since one tiny tortilla contains 1.5 gr protein! And those are just flour mixed with water. There are tons of recepies I can post for you, but I honestly don´t know if we´re talking about the same stuff... Let me check at my local supermarket, ok? Saludos from México Karen |
| karen 11-27-2002 09:45 PM | Hey, Caroline, guess what, I went to the supermarket and checked out the cornflouer; as I suspected the protein content is not as low. It says 8gr. prot. per 100 gr. flouer. Maybe we are thalking about different stuff indeed! I can still provide the easy to make recepies though. Of course they will be tipically mexican, and do usually contain some no no´s...(salsa, cheese, salt mainly) sincerely Karen |
| Carolyn 11-28-2002 02:18 PM | i don't know if we are talking about the same stuff, but it does say corn flour on the box & 0.4g protein per 100g! on the packet there is bread and a recipie for how to thicken soup...could you post me some recipies pls, i can then see if they work out, and ill tell u if they do - thank u so so much! ![]() |
| karen 11-29-2002 03:04 PM | Hi there Caroline, the corn flour you get here is usually mixed with plain water and a pinch of salt, (must have a consistency like normal dough) the you make tortillas on a "comal", which is more or less like a pan turn over once surface seems dry (like crépes) and continue heating. Ready when it slides off easyly). We fill those with anything imaginable, from scrambled egg to chicken or beef, even prepared succinis with onion and corn, cheese, or just a pinch of salt or "salsa". Salsa: there are many recepies for salsa, but let´s say for this diet maybe the most convenient would be a guacamole (avocado, onion, and tomato all chopped and mixed with salt and a bit of olive oil. Just put let´s say a tbsp. and a half of guacamole in your tortilla, roll up, and enjoy. other salsas would be: Raw of course, tomato, onion and some paprika or chile and chopped coriander (herb) Some people make the dough and add some cheese or choppped bacon( maybe that one would be better for the diet) and just bake the "patty" in your pan eat as bread. Same with eggs, sugar, oil : prepare dough and bake. Also as a sweet treat to go with coffee. I´ll get back to you for the cookies there are some great recipies. I must repeat that most of these recepies are prepared, so there will be no misunderstanding... not trying to boicott Wai´s diet, ok? Untill soon Karen |

It is similar to arrowroot or kuzu but you can't really make much with it, it is usually used to thicken sauces. Angel cake is made from cornflour but you have to add egg white ![]() |
