| Author | Topic: Wai, prove your diet to the non-believers! |
| rick 10-22-2002 11:11 PM | I am putting this here because I want others' opinons on the credibility of the diet (especially from those who have read extensively about the biochemistry of it from the website and book). If Wai really has something here shouldn't he or she work on getting it acknowledged and accepted so that many more people can be helped by the diet. I mean, that's Wai's point in the first place. My original suggestion (it was too far down the board so I decided to move it up here) was: "If you have something to contribute to the field (you probably do) then submit a peer-reviewed essay and acquire some credibility. Then you would be able to help even more people....If you start out with an article on food chemicals and addictions that would establish credibility. THEN you could try to break into the harder-shelled world of dermatological sciences. Find an obscure scientific journal and seek to get printed. Once you have one, then you can progress and try to change ideas from the inside." Scott added his two cents: "Rick, I love your suggestion for Wai to submit some of her work to a credible, peer-reviewed forum. I hope she will seriously consider the suggestion." What does everyone else think? |
| Chris10astra 10-22-2002 11:24 PM | It seems to me that part of the purpose of this board is to see how practical the diet is. If not many people can stick with it, or aren't getting great results, then why make a big deal out of it? (Not that I don't think it's great and I'd love for it to be accepted) It has to work before some people listen. Theory and actuality are two different things. And to repeat myself yes it'd be awesome if it was accepted as valid and healthy. ![]() |

| Wai 10-23-2002 02:03 PM | Well, my plan is according to what Chris said: "It has to work before some people listen" The diet obviously works for many, and BECAUSE it works, it will spread anyway; nothing can stop that. And the more it spreads, the less it can be denied. That way, eventually, scientists will feel forced to research it sooner or later... (probably later )The reason why it will not spread very fast, is because it is such a strict diet. But we will get there, slowly, but steadily. |
| Taylor 10-23-2002 08:47 PM | Another reason is because this way of preventing acne by diet doesn't require us to buy drugs for it. Drug companies won't be making money off of us anymore so why would they promote it. |
| jay_1 05-15-2003 01:51 AM | It was recently mentioned (briefly) in the news, how researchers are finding a correlation between diet and acne. I’m sure doctors already know this. It needs to get out in the open. This is definitely a step in the right direction and it certainly contradicts what doctors and pharmaceutical companies have been saying for years, "Diet does not cause acne.” Because of their greediness (doctors/Pharmaceuticals) many people suffer. I have been on the diet for almost a month. It has been working great and I am so thankful I found this site. I have not posted my “success” story yet; I’m almost there though. I cheat every once in a while; when I do, I get a small pimple or two. Since I have been on the diet, I no longer take pills or use Proactive. This is something I could never do before and my skin looks great. " |
| engesongwok 05-19-2003 05:39 PM | Well, a friend of mine has told me he isn't interested in trying 'the diet' is because 'its the diet of the month'. He says that someone somewhere is advancing some kind of diet based upon any number of factors, such as: *Blood type *Compassion (vegetarian and vegan)*Raw vegetarian *Allergies *religious reasons *loosing weight/maintaining weight *gaining muscle *balancing yin/yang *taste/latest popular cuisine So there is a lot of competing points of view, all making their claims. Is it no wonder there is a lot of confusion? When I attempted to describe the 'wai says' diet to another person, they immediately assumed it was 'vegetarian', as that is the closest thing they could comprehend. Otherwise, I have noticed that people just don't 'get it' and think that I must be missing a lot in the way of taste or nutrition. Mostly I think people have willing ignorance... |
| engesongwok 05-19-2003 05:44 PM | Oh yeah, the other comment is that its 'not scientifically proven'. (as if eating cooked foods has undergone scientific investigation ! All that it has behind it is tradition.I also noticed that much of the criticism of the diet comes from people that stand to profit big time by convience food, resturants and fast food. I will admit that those are sometimes much easier, sometimes cheaper, but not necessarily the best choice for ones health! |
