I tore a muscle yesterday and am unable to walk. What kinds of foods/nutrients should I be sure to get enough of in order to heal optimally?

You can maximally create the best conditions for the muscle to heal as fast as possible.
The first condition is rest, of course.
Keeping your blood clean from toxins (natural toxins from vegetables etc., heterocyclic amines from cooked foods), and supplying the injured muscle with all the essential amino acids it needs (without overdoing it with amino acids that already are abundantly present), will help.
Absorbing sufficient energy is a MUST.

So, maintaining a totally raw diet (highly nutritional, easy to digest) with the inclusion of animal food and Brazil nuts and the exclusion of vegetables and cooked foods is the best you can do.
Rest is number 1 though.

Sunday- unable to put any weight on the injured leg (w/o pain of course)
Monday- able to put a bit of weight, toe only, leg turned inward
Tuesday- able to put weight on, full foot contact, but still using crutch just in case and not putting leg through full motion.

I went from not being able to put any weight on my leg w/o horrible pain to almost walking now. Maybe the injury wasn't that serious or maybe the food and avoidance of drugs shows just how smart the body is when given the proper materials. I was told to take anti-inflammatories but I only took 1 dose on Sunday and that's it. I figure my body knows what it's doing. Last night I was really antsy and did some tentative moving/stretching of my thigh which felt sooo good. There is still a slight ache but not the piercing pain of Sunday when I moved. I hope the dinner tomorrow won't slow me down too much. Just an update!
