| Chris10astra 09-26-2002 07:02 PM | Anything that comes out of my body smells weird. Like it's my body so I don't think it's gross but I can imagine others shying away. I think it might be due to the olive oil since it's the only thing I'm eating that I've never eaten before. Has anyone else noticed changes like this? It kind of worries me because it's strong, especially when I use the restroom. |
| Taylor 09-26-2002 07:32 PM | Are you eating alot of nuts (brazil nuts in particular)? |
| Chris10astra 09-26-2002 07:41 PM | I am..I forgot about those. I'm not eating a ton but a handful twice a day if I can. I don't know when I first noticed this though..if it was before or after the nuts. |
| Vanessa 09-26-2002 09:36 PM | I've actually noticed the opposite of your situation. I used to have some strong armpit odor before starting the diet and now, it's practically gone. I feel and smell fresher and sweat way less than before. Some days, I don't even bother putting on deodorant/anti-perspirant and my armpits are almost odorless at the end of the day. I rely more on olive oil for my fat than nuts so I can tell you that the problem could not be the olive oil. |
| Wai 09-27-2002 01:45 AM | The same here (as Vanessa). People that eat 'normal' food have a more acid odor, and when 'normal' eating people have used our restroom, I'm always astonished by the strong smell. My boyfriend used to (many years ago) have an acid odor too, I think mainly because he used to drink jogurt (drink-jogurt). He smells fine now; just an 'animal-like' male scent; nothing acid anymore.I very often am repulsed by the strong body odors in the streets. quote:Can you describe it? Is it acid? Or animal-like-kind-of-strong? I needed some time to get used to the natural (animal droppings-like) smell of my stool. Does your morning-pee have a very powerful odor? Is it light colored, or dark? Is there anyone close to you that you can talk about this? (and ask for his/her interpretation of your smell?) Are you losing weight? Weightloss is often accompanied by a bit bad smell, especially if muscle tissue gets lost; muscles contain a lot of nitrogen, which is eventually converted into ureum, which gives your pee that typical strong smell. quote:Is it very strong olive oil? There also are very light tasting olive oils... And if that doesn't help, maybe you can start taking only one handful Brazil nuts a day, and see whether that helps? |
| Chris10astra 09-27-2002 08:03 AM | I know it's a strong smell, but it's unlike anything I've smelled before. I don't think it's acidic. I have found that my regular body odor is less apparent (armpit, sweat, etc), but that may be because this smell is so strong. Like I said, it's especially strong when I get rid of waste, and it's also strong when my face is right near a mirror and I'm messing with my skin (yes, bad habit). It's kind of neat that I smell it when my skin breaks, so I know it's not my breath (at least I hope not!). I'll make sure to ask someone this weekend. I really do think it's the olive oil because it's a very similar smell. Of course I have been finding myself more sensitive to smell overall so that may be it (I can't stand the smell of diary; I walked past a display of all kinds of cheese and it smelled like a bathroom to me). I really hope I'm not losing muscle weight, but fat is fine with me. Let's see, my morning pee color varies; it's never ultra dark and sometimes it's very very light. Doesn't that have to do with how much water you drink? Yes it's extra virgin olive oil, pretty strong but I've developed a taste for it. Christen |
| Wai 09-27-2002 01:32 PM | quote:Exactly; that is what happens to everybody on the diet, it is because all your sense are less sedated by opioid peptides and beta-carbolines. quote:There are many different extra virgin oils, and one is much stronger tasting than the other, so maybe you should try different extra virgin olive oils? |
| etwald 09-27-2002 01:41 PM | Hi, My smell was diminished so much, that I haven't used any deodorant anymore.. I never smelled that much, but now it's virtually gone. Ed |
| Sanna 09-28-2002 12:46 PM | I don't use deodorant either anymore, no need for that...there's no smell at all. I have noticed that my skin overall smells like Brazil nuts or something, and a bit sweet, like baby skin now that I am on the diet. It's a nice mild scent |
| engesongwok 04-08-2003 11:09 PM | When I first started 'rawing' I noticed that my stools came out rather foul smelling. Especially when I ate coconut. Sometimes I still produce some foul stools, but its getting much less foul. Most of the time it smells a bit sweet, like fermented fruit. I think I know what some of you are talking about. I now notice some horrible smells from other people. On the bus I could smell someone that smelled of rotting cabbage. I never knew that eating cooked cabbage could make one smell like that. The worse is S.A.D. breath. I think it must be cooked beef, makes people's breath smell like ****. |
| Lewis 04-09-2003 07:20 AM | I also find it true about my sense of smell improving on this diet. I used to have a terrible sense of smell; others would smell things that I didn't even notice. Now I'm finding it's the other way around. It's quite amazing. |
