| Ashtek 01-06-2003 11:06 AM | hi Wai. i was wondering how safe and effective organic bee pollen would be to supplement a vegan lifestyle on this program? the pollen is collected from various flower sources throughout the western united states and is said to contain every nutrient and amino acid required by the human body. sounds good to me, what are your thoughts? peace.love.unity.respect. nathan ![]() |
| Wai 01-07-2003 02:32 PM | hi Nathan, quote:including vitamin B12? You can easily obtain all the essential nutrients by consuming both fruits and some animal food, so, why would you want to keep the pollen from the bees? (or other insects) and... the pollen are so small, so little weight, and thus eating fruits and animal food is faaaar more effective, right? "is said..." Are the contents of bee pollen listed somewhere? |
| Ashtek 01-08-2003 12:40 PM | that appears to be the question, how effective this "nutritional superfood" really is? to be honest with you, im not positive if this pollen contains vitamin b12. i'll surely look into it. if my memory serves me correctly, i believe that one tablespoon of bee pollen contains six grams of protien, while adding sixty to seventy calories per serving. so if these numbers are indeed correct, would'nt one tablespoon of pollen be equivalent to the nutritional content of one raw egg yolk? just seeking out alternatives to the messy complications of extracting yolks from the shell. thanks wai! peace.love.unity.respect.nathan ![]() |
| Wai 01-09-2003 07:45 AM | quote:that depends on the contents of all the other nutrients; its not just about energy and protein quote:Then you need to be SURE about its nutritional value. Every day that you extract yolks from the shell, you are getting better at it. In the end, it will be very easy for you. just a skill that you can develop. It's worth it; egg yolks are the most nutritional food in the world. |
| Ashtek 01-09-2003 11:19 AM | your right about the yolks, it sure does get easier with practice. thanks for the confidence booster wai, your awesome! peace.love.unity.respect. nathan. ![]() |
| ninesky 04-25-2003 09:46 AM | I've heard good things about bee pollen.. that it has incredible amounts of most of the vitamins and amino acids we need and that it can be a big help with physical endurance. A used bookstore near my house sells it in bulk in the herb section.. and I'd like to know if it's usually raw and what the advantages and disadvantages are.. and of course if it's "safe" for the sample diet and if not, why not? Thanks. ![]() |
| Wai 04-25-2003 09:53 AM | have you come across it's actual nutrient composition? can you list it here? Egg yolks contain more of most vitamins and minerals than any food in the world. Suppose bee pollen contain even more, then it is still much cheaper and easier to ingest sufficient of those nutrients by ingesting egg yolks than by consuming bee pollen... (the weight of some egg yolks versus the weight of sme bee pollen; if you know what i mean) and apart from that; this diet already supplies you with all required nutrients, and you don't need more than you need |
