i guess you are a low weigth female?
yes, then it is sufficient
the body very effectively increases the calcium absorption rate when little calcium is consumed
a low calcium intake is actually protective against aging of the calcium-rpocessing bone cells (osteoblasts), and thus protective against osteoporosis

Hello again,

I will try to answer, but the same disclaimer applies as before. ;-)

Yes, much more.
Your RDA says you should eat ~3000.
At 1300, I'm surprised you aren't feeling light headed sometimes, and/or weak.

Because the RDA is based on what so called ``conventional wisdom'' believes is correct (the conventional food pyrimaid et al.).
Wai believes otherwise; read the references she gave above for her reasoning.

What about Calcium requirements for men?

A friend recently showed me an article in the paper about lipids and vascular disease. In the article it said that there were a number of cultures in the world which ate a large amount of fat, but did not have vascular problems.

I noted that Two of these cultures ate a high percentage of dairy fat. It would seem to me that vascular disease should have been a problem for these people. Didn't wai state that excessive calcium could also promote vascular diseases?

Hi Wai and everyone, i am a male, 16, 145 lbs, 5'8 ft, and i started this diet about 3 weeks ago, i do it as strict as i can, of course i have seen improvement in my skin {thanks Wai [Smile]
but i am just a little worried about my overall health, i am getting 1500 calories daily and about 450mg of calcium {but it says in the RDA that i am supposed to get 3000 calories and 1200mg of calcium daily} and i just dont feel like eating double to get closer to this RDA recommendation, what do you recommend Wai, should i eat more{even if i dont feel that hungry}or i am doing fine? i am also kind of inactive person.

I can't answer for Wai. Personally, I think that your body has an internal wisdom. If you need more you will probably feel hungry. Are you eating foods that are richer in calories and lipids, such as nuts, egg yolk and avocado?

I envy you. I certainly wish I tried this diet at a younger age.

Hi, I do eat 1 avocado and 3 egg yolks daily {i stopped the brazil nuts to see if my skin improves more}, i also take about 4-5 tablespoons
of olive oil daily, is this enough fat?

Thanks

they're about the same consuming over 300 mg, up to 1,000 mg, you are safe

because it is not fat that causes vascular diseases.
But one of the causes of vascular diseases, is the precipitation of damaged fats in the arteries.
In these cultures, little cooked / intensively processed foods are consumed.

no, the fats in raw dairy are not damaged fats.

yes, it is ONE of the causes.
Maybe their calcium intake is not that high (dairy-fat is not high in calcium)
In western civilisations much calcium is consumed AND much cooked / heavily processed foods are consumed. If in these other cultures less cooked foods are consumed, they will have less vascular problems.

jhontry,

we're kind of repeating things here...

about the fat: the general guideline is 1 gram fat for every 2 grams carbohydrates
you can check your diet regarding this by submitting your diet to the nutrient calculator

regarding the calories: you are consuming way too little calories, which will keep you from being able to maintain this diet eventually
When you don't feel like eating, you should consume juices instead, to ingest the required nutrients anyway. Check out this thread (and other threads in that forum)
