| Sanna 09-19-2002 05:41 AM | I've heard that drinking too much water can make you stupid or even kill you..the brain gets messed up from too much fluid and you die just like that. Is this true Wai? I know too little water is bad but can we drink too much? |
| Wai 09-19-2002 09:21 AM | quote:The only way to ingest that much water, is by torture; they used to that to torture / kill. no way you can do that to yourself. You will throw up waaaay before succeeding to ingest so much water. Suicide by drinking water; its impossible, or you at least need some companions to tie you up... quote:No. On this diet you are told to listen to your body. When you start throwing up water, I guess that is a pretty clear statement... don't worry about it; when you feel like drinking, drink AS MUCH as you want. |
| Lewis 02-14-2003 07:35 AM | Hi. I've been trying to drink enough water to be properly hydrated. I've been going by the formula that says to divide your weight in pounds in half, and drink that many ounces of water every day. For me, that's about 64 ounces. My question is, with eating all this fruit, and possibly drinking juice -- do I drink my 64 ounces on top of that? Or do I count the fruit and juice as part of the water I'm taking in, therefore lowering the number? Can a person drink too much liquid???? If so, how would it be harmful? |
| Wai 02-14-2003 07:36 AM | quote:that's almost 2 kg of water, which seems an appropriate amount of water to me. quote:No, water in fresh raw fruits / juices, counts as water too. So, when you care consuming over 2 kg of fruits daily (as is advised with this diet), you will be ingesting sufficient water (fruits contain about 85% water) quote:if you FORCE yourself to drink too much water, yes it can harm you. In mild forms, it dillutes your blood too much; causing the over-excretion of nutrients. In extreme forms (as in physical torture!), it can even kill you, but that is not an issue here. If are on the 100% strict diet, and you don't eat nuts, you actually don't even need to drink water at all. If you do eat cooked foods or nuts, you do need to drink some water. A general guidleine: if you are not used to drinking water, drink about 2 litres of water (half a gallon) a day during the first week, and then subsequently just drink as much as you feel like, but this requires that you never neglect the feeling of thirst. Doing so, you don't need to worry about over-consuming on water. |
