Hi Wai,

I read somewhere in your book that you shouldn't eat after 7 pm, or you should not eat certain things after 7 pm so your sleep won't be disrupted. I have searched and searched for that passage, but I can't find it again. Could you please restate the info, or post a link to that part of your book or one of your FAQs?

Thank you so much for putting up your websites with all your fantastic research. I am on my second day of the sample diet and doing great. NO NEW BREAKOUTS. And I feel much better than any attempt to eat raw before. No other diet told me to eat fat after fruit, but eating fruit by itself always made me naseaous, gave me headache, etc. I am so excited. Thank you again [Big Grin]

the exact time is not so important; it may be 8 pm as well, but the issue is that your digestive system shouldn't have to cope with fiber after this time (nuts and dried fruits are relatively high in fiber), because fiber keeps your bowels active, which may disturb your sleep, and optimum sleep is essential to about everything (including acne)

On the other hand, you should consume sufficient (non-fibrous) energy to maintain adequate blood energy levels to fall, and remain asleep properly. So, consuming some fat and sugar before you want to go to bed, is good. (OJ with fat and sugar for example, but a banana is okay as well; only 1.8% fiber)

Hmmm, I have the same problem as the original poster, I thought I'd read something of yours but now cannot find the reference.

What I thought I read was that it is better to avoid bananas late at night due to something regarding chemical levels in the brain (dopamine?).

Then again, I might be very confused about that.
(I've tried having a banana before bed a few times and didn't notice any adverse effects...)

it might be my statement that bananas contain serotonine, and that this exogenous serotonine cannot be utilized as brain-serotonine, which is composed of tryptophan.
If one is not used to eating high-serotonine foods, one may have difficulties ('heart-pain') with eating lots of them, in the beginning.
