Dear Wai

I have been on the Zone diet since one year ago, and feel very well, yesterday I found your site and spend two hours reading all the information, itīs very interesting.

I love eggs, basically egg yolks (raw), but Dr. Sears, the creator of the Zone diet, proclaims that the egg yolks are unhealthy due the big content of Arachidonic acid/bad eicosanoids, etc.

I would like to try your diet, but I am little afraid about this matter, can you say me something about that? [Confused]

Congratulations for all your investigation.

Regards,

Emiliano

Arachidonic acid is just a (omega-6) fatty acid that is very effectively metabolized by the body.
It is certainly not a bad substance.
Does he think that fat in general is bad?

According to Dr. Sears, lamb meat, horse meat, turkey, chicken and salmon most be REALLY bad.
The amount of Arachidonic acid in foods relative to their total fat contents:

up to 6.5% Lamb meat
4.7% - 6.1% Turkey
4.5% horse meat
2.8% - 4.2% chicken
2.2% Salmon
1.8% Tuna
1.4% Mackerel
0.8% Beef
0.7% Egg yolk

BTW; Arachidonic acid supports acetylcholine secretion (1), enhancing cognitive abilities.
