| karen 08-19-2002 11:30 AM | Dear Wai, I am so convinced of this diet, that I guess IŽd like to get others involved to recover health... I asume, that this diet is not only ment for people suffering from acne or overweight, is it? My father recently had a stroke; otherwise heŽs a pretty healthy guy at 65 (always been very concious about what he eats, does a lot of walking etc.,) Last tests show, that 2 of his main arteries (heart) are partially blocked. The doctor advised him to take a cholesterol lowering pill in order to avoid further blockage. This medication however causes kidney damage on the long run...As you can imagine he doesnŽt want to take the stupid pill! He has had hi cholesterol levels in the past (maybe genetics or stress related, because as I said he does watch his food and is in very good shape); now the cholesterol levels seemed fine in the last test...whithout the need of any medication. Just loads of garlic, olive oil, and I recomended raw salmon or tuna, unshelled nuts, avocado (sometimes). Would you advise your diet to him? (Any restrictions or alterations?) Or are there any tips for these kind of patients? ... If you do in fact recomend your diet for people like them, could you breefly give us a small explaination as to why and how it would work? Sincerely Karen. |
| Wai 08-20-2002 12:56 PM | I promise that I will get back to this later, since I have only very little time left for now.quote:Indeed. Luckily, by following this diet, you will hardly ingest any bad substances anymore, such as heterocyclic amines, N-nitroso compounds, opioid peptides, beta-carbolines, trans fatty acids and oxysterols. And since these bad substances can cause a variety of diseases, it is healthier for everybody not to ingest them. quote:That can be caused by a number of 'bad' substances that precipitate in the arteries, such as oxysterols, excessive minerals, damagaged proteins and damaged fats. More later... |
| Wai 08-22-2002 06:44 AM | quote:And it does not take away the cause... Blocked arteries are not just caused by the precipitation of bad cholesterol, but also of other damaged nutrients, such as bad fats, excess minerals and damaged protein. Also, lowering the cholesterol level, you are lowering the levels of both good and bad cholesterol, while only the bad cholesterol precipitates in the arteries, because redundant natural cholesterol is simply re-converted into bile acids. So, even if you only want to address one cause of the blocked arteries (precipitation of cholesterol), you need to address the issue of bad cholesterol: oxidized cholesterol, due to the influence of heat. So, in that case you need to eliminate the intake of all foods that contain cholesterol and are cooked before consumption. In that case you still need to consume good cholesterol of course, which is an esential nutrient. quote:So, whatever happens, he NEEDS to eliminate the intake of bad cholesterol, and needs to make sure to consume sufficent good cholesterol (fresh raw egg yolks and/or sashimi) On the other hand, you cannot force him to do so; you can only supply him with the information, and then he needs to make his own choice. quote:I guess he eats cooked animal foods, right? Well, then he still ingests bad cholesterol... People can be in perfect shape and then die of a heart attack. quote:Which does NOT mean that his arteries are healthy now... quote:Yes. quote:No. quote:I will address that here. |
