| tres 08-08-2002 11:59 AM | Hi Wai, I would like to know if it is safe for kids under the age of 5 to consume raw fish & egg yolk? Then I would like to know if I can wrap avo around raw tuna? I have been following your diet for 2 weeks now, love it. Just can't eat raw tuna. I have no problem with Sushi but I know that is a "junk meal". I don't understand why you say we can have cream & not milk, are they not both the same? Hope 2 hear from you soon. Helanie |
| Wai 08-08-2002 01:21 PM | Hi Helanie, quote:Yes, it is. But in kids it is extremely important to start carefully and only gradually increase the intake. It is most easy to start with egg yolk, because you can easily add a few drops of fresh raw egg yolk to a fruitshake. After 3 days of adding only a few drops, you add half a teaspoon of fresh raw egg yolk during the next 3 days, and after that you add 1 whole teaspoon for the following 3 days. And so on. Once they are used to consuming the fresh raw egg yolk, they can handle the fresh raw fish as well. quote:what is avo? quote:what for? Acne? quote:How about raw salmon? quote:Cream is a 'munch food', so it is not allowed while on the sample diet. Cream is one of the least harmful munch foods because it is very low in protein, while being high in fat, which makes it very satisfying; a very effective 'munch food'. (the purpose of munch foods is to satisfy your cravings) Milk contains far more protein, while it is hardly satisfying and even stimulates your cravings for bad foods (due to the opioid peptides it contains, which stimulate your appetite) |

| karen 08-08-2002 11:14 PM | Hi Wai, just stumbled across Helanie´s subject concerning raw fish for kids. I too was wondering how on earth to get the rest of the family, especially the kids (9 and 10), more involved into a healthy diet. My husband would most probably send me to hell if I tried convincing him to eat healthier; anyway, he has never had acne, neither do my kids, of course. This diet just seems so logical to me, yet I do have concerns weather it would be ok to try and start introducing my children to better eating habits. They are by no means what you would call junk food addicts, but it can never be good enough, can it? Would this type of diet be ok for children, or do they still have other noutricional needs? Just curious. Ciao Karen |
| Wai 08-09-2002 07:04 AM | quote:and subsequently... quote:The avocado pear is avocado like Hass avocado, I guess. (the creamy avocado with the purple-black bubly skin) Yes, you can eat the avo in combination with the tuna, but how do you wrap the avo around the tuna? with seaweed? quote:The colon pains are usually caused by the opposite influences of sedatives (beta-carbolines, aopioid peptides) and bowel stimulating substances (fiber, fat, mono-sugars) in our food. Eliminating both the sedatives and much of the hard to degrade fiber from your diet is the solution to your problem. Instead of eating whole fruits, you best consume a lot of fruit juices. Not mixed/blended fruits, but pressed juices (like orange juice) or juices from the juice extractor. Also make sure not to consume other foods (except for orange juice) within 2 hours after having consumed the fish or egg yolks. (to prevent causing gasses) And...make sure to eat sufficient fat; fatty acids are the sole source of energy for your bowels. |
| Wai 08-09-2002 07:33 AM | quote:Don't try to convince them; that normally has adverse effects. What you can do: Make delicious fruit shakes (in the blender) with banana in combination with other fruits (not kiwi) like apple, pear, peach or strawberry. Add a bit olive oil (not too much! ; they wount like the taste then. Just enough to make it taste creamy) and the egg yolk (which adds a vanilla taste to the shake). Don't show them that you are adding the egg yolk. Let them taste only a zip everytime that you make such a shake, and they will ask for more... They will like how their body feels afterwards, maybe even without noticing so, but this will make them long for the shakes more, and eventually they will even miss it if you don't make it. quote:Especially when we are young, we need to absorb as little harmful chemicals, and sufficient of all required nutrients, since diet strongly influences the development of our body. So, especially when they are young, kids should eat a diet like mine. Yes, children have different nutritional needs; they need more energy (fats and sugars) and other nutrients per kg bodyweight. And egg yolks are more nutritional than any other food in the world! So, especially kids will benefit from the fresh raw egg yolks. Also because they will strengthen their defense system, making them less susceptible to diseases. Egg yolk also contains a lot of good cholesterol, and this cholesterol is essential for brain development. Since kids need more energy, their diet should contain less fiber (especially no beans, legumes). Especially fruitshakes with fat (and sugar) added are very healthy for kids. And when they are going to watch TV, you give them a shake with egg yolks added. This timing is essential, since digesting the yolks properly, physical inactivity is required, and the yolks will make them feel a bit drowsy and lazy. |

| Wai 08-10-2002 10:55 AM | quote:Kiwi is a healthy fruit, but: Kiwi contains tiny seeds that you cannot remove. when you eat the kiwi, the seeds will remain undigested, and will leave your body eventually, intact. In nature, these spread seeds originate new (kiwi) trees. If you put the kiwi in a blender, however, those seeds are destroyed, releasing the mild toxins (like tannins) they contain, which taste bitter, and leaves an aftertaste in your mouth (like black tea does), which may eventually keep you (the children) from consuming shakes. PS; black tea contains tannins, which cause the discoloration of your tea glass (and teeth). |
