| Author | Topic: gym doesnt get me into shape anymore, and am bloated and constipated |
| Debbie9339 06-01-2003 03:28 PM | I am 44 and for the first time in my life i have developed a little tummy. I also have gained weight in the last year. I thought it was because I was not exercising enough as before. I have gone to the gym for 5 weeks solid, and have not lost one pound and have constipation. I am 5'7" 133 with a measurement of 30percent body fat. In years past just exercising would get me back into shape...this distended stomach feels tender and is bigger some days then others. I am nor have been a big eater in my life. I seem to not be able to burn fat or increase my metabolism. I feel good not sick just going through a frustration I have never had before and im trying not to panic about this! The bloating, gas, weight gain and constipation are staying static for the entire 6 weeks I have been exercising. Any Suggestions? |
| Debbie9339 06-06-2003 02:22 PM | On day one Mid day Sunday when i started the diet I ate throughout the day small amounts watermelon, oranges, strawberries, bananas, avocados, cucumbers, tomatoes, brazil nuts, water packed tuna, taste of papaya, taste of mango. On the second day I didn't drink my normal cup of coffee or sugarery non dairy creamer and no BM. I could barely stay awake and pretty much slept all day, felt very weak, it might have been from the no coffee...I went all day and at night started to crave things off the list like my skinny cow low cow ice cream sandwiches and something I NEVER eat m and m peanuts...i got dressed twice at 9 pm to go to the grocery story but talked myself out of it and ate one skinny cow icecream sandwich and made another avocado salad but used my Briannas strawberry Vinaigrette dressing....so i cheated but it figured it was far less then if i went to the store and got those m and m's!! Ok so today day 3 i had three small BM movements which had been my problem (the lack of) and i lost 2 pounds which i have not been able to do on my own after 6 weeks of heavy exercising and trying everything i could think of to get rid of the bloat and weight!!! ....so in my opinion it does work...i know i wasn't really hungry yesterday just eating out of nervousness and habit....for me to have ate three avocados and 7 nuts and all that fruit and to have finally seen something change on the scale was amazing! I'll keep everyone posted for the end of the week to see what happens.. debbie |
| Debbie9339 06-06-2003 02:23 PM | Forgot a few things: On day 1 I walked for 1 hour around my neighborhood, and day two i was just too weak to do anything. I woke up day three with a big pimple on my face which isn't one of my problems but it may have also been from the no coffee from the day before. |
| Wai 06-06-2003 02:52 PM | first of all debbie, welcome to the board second, please dont start a new thread for every time you want to post something have you actually read the board rules? (shown when you register) also read the suggestions at the top of the board main page, and on top of the forum main pages quote:when people go to the gym, and lose weight, the weightloss is not due to the exercises, but due to consuming less energy than utilised once people actually go to the gym, they usually are determined, and more carefully watch what they eat constipation is generally not caused by a lack of physical activity (except in those that lay in bed all day), but due to sedative opioid peptides and beta-carbolines in our daily food quote:you are probably bloated quote:no reason to panic, you can eliminate them all quote:what do you eat? quote:were the brazil nuts still in the shell when you bought them (if not, they are constipating) the water packed tuna is absolutely constipating have you read this page: http://www.13.waisays.com/constipation.htm quote:probably a lack of glucose (sugar) have you submitted your diet to the nutrient calculator? |
| Debbie9339 06-07-2003 02:48 AM | Thank you kai...sorry for posting incorrectly! I have only experienced bloating once this week on your diet...i had an apricot and nectarine so apparently one of them did it so i won't eat those anymore...no other bloating..i have lost three pounds, my clothes are loser...tonite i was craving bread and pizza but i think i didn't eat enough today because i have not felt like this all week...all i am eating is watermelon, oranges, strawberries, brazil nuts, avocados, bananas, olive oil, cucumber, tomatoes and im kinda getting sick of these foods...i need to find other things on your lists to eat, i think im not eating any munch foods ....i am not eating any munch foods so maybe i need to mix things up with them, but because i have not had bloating for the first time in 6 months it's hard to add another food to the mix and maybe get bloated.. |
| RRM 06-07-2003 01:27 PM | Yes, but you need to start experimenting anyway, because if you don't, your cravings for bad foods will probably win eventually. I think it may be better to find a middle way, so that you can keep on maintaining the diet. | Debbie9339 06-10-2003 05:55 PM | So I did lose some of the bloating, started having bm's and did lose weight....but after a week im very sick of avacodos, nuts and fruit! I mean im ill thinking about those foods now...maybe i overate them but the result was so good! I backed off a little bit and weighed myself yesterday and went up 2 pounds and today no bowel movement and my stomach looks distended....I am still sticking to the foods on the diet but not as much...why did i lost the great BM's that is why im bloated and gained wieght...i have to eat this food alot the rest of my lift to be regular and keep this bloat weight off???? |
| RRM 06-11-2003 02:49 PM | No, it is about first being able to eliminate the bloating and excess fat. Once you know how to do that, you can start experimenting with what foods your body can cope with without putting the weight back on / getting constipated / bloated again. These experiments always come with the effects you don't want, simply because they are experiments; about how much you can take of the bad foods. It will require a long period of experiments before you actually perfectly know what foods suit you, and what not. The good thing is that you can always rely on the strict diet to solve your problems once you are not doing well. So, the safety net is there; now it's time to experiment. RRM |
