| carriebsecret 04-11-2003 01:03 PM | Ive been on this plan for about a week. It's mostly for weight and cellulite more than anything...I rarely get acne. I am approximately 40-60 pounds overweight. I'm pretty firm, but my waist is flabbly and my fat is distributed pretty evenly all over my body. This new eating plan is really nice, very easy to adapt too because I was fearful that I was pre-diabetic and have been addicted to pasta and bread for years. Since starting this plan I am no longer craving carbs and haven't really been using munch foods much (0ccasional tuna). Anyway my confusion is about the glucose/glycogen/walking/exercise times. I keep re-reading that chapter and I feel like I'm going in a circle. 1.)I'm not sure when is the best time to exercise. 2.) If my glucose and glycogen levels are low...will i burn old body fat by exercising first before eating? 3.) If my blood sugar is low in the morning, should I eat SOMETHING...like an apple before walking? 4.) What can I substitute for the brazil nuts, avacado, and tomatoes with for my salad? I love salads but am having a time worrying about enough fats sans the protien. Currently I am up by 7am, at work by 8:30. My first meal is approximately 8:45 and is usually Cantalope. (should I or could I have 2 pieces of bacon?) I have an apple or two about 10am. 1:30 - Lunch is typically a salad with cucumbers and olive oil. ( I don't like avacados or tomatoes and don't know what to substitute those things with). I normally have grapefruit about that time too. (oranges make me throw up). I usually walk 2-5 miles daily around 5:30 6:30 - Dinner has been cucumber, watermelon, and a little bit of tuna. Does this all sound okay? If I'm doing something wrong please tell me. IF you know of substitues that work...please let me know that too. Thanks in advance for any input. another thing.... I also wanted to add that I've never eaten eggs. And the tuna is canned with water...is that okay? |

| InLimbo 05-10-2003 11:44 AM | I seem to have missed something. How does one know that one's glycogen deposits are empty? |
| Wai 05-10-2003 11:49 AM | in chapter 61 of my book, the "Glycogen Method" is described in that chapter is a section named "glycogen" and in that section this question is asked, and answered: But how can I know whether my glycogen depots are filled or empty? if you have any more question about that issue after reading that chapter, please post these questions in this thread |
| tasya 06-18-2003 11:46 PM | I have mentioned a book called "Walk Yourself Thin" by David Rives and I said that it works by increasing one's BMR. I am actually wrong about this. I ordered a copy and reading it he never mentions this and talks about fat being taken from the body to replace the glycogen used up by the muscles and fat being used up in muscle repair and to build new muscles, similar to what Wai says. I like this book because it recommends walking as fast as you comfortably can and for as long as you comfortably can, much the same advice as Wai gives and he explains the physiology of it simply and well He does not recommend taking in fewer calories than you need as a way of losing weight either. I thought I would mention his book because it supports alot of what Wai is saying. David Rives also studied cell biology. I wonder if a separate forum could be made for those of us who mainly want to lose weight. It seems there are a few of us who are having difficulty doing this. I don't really find it helpful to read posts by people who only want to lose cellulite and not weight because they are the right weight or underweight or whatever. I find it slightly discouraging just as it would be for people who have severe acne and who have to wade through posts from people who say they have clear skin but have some other problem. I don't have problem skin but I wouldn't go around saying it all the time reassuring people they will have clear skin like mine in time because I haven't walked in those people's shoes and they may have different hormones to me that make it more diificult for them to achieve clear skin than the average person. The diet has made my skin even clearer than it was, but I don't think it helps people to remind them over and over again I have really unblemished skin etc. So it would be nice to have a forum just for those of us who are struggling to lose overweight and find it harder than the average person despite following Wai's recommendations. ![]() |

| tasya 06-20-2003 04:23 AM | RRM, you are speedy - talk about a fast response! Thank you!- you saved me from getting a complex about why I wasn't succeeding in losing overweight following Wai's diet when others were finding it so easy. |
