Sorry, Wai is off for a few weeks, but yes, regarding cellulite and overweight (not acne), in theory that is okay, that is, if your body actually positively responds to the daily 15 gram intake.

How soon you can expect results, differs VERY much on what you are trying to eliminate.
For what are you on the diet?
Acne? (results within weeks)
Cellulite? (results in about one year)
Overweight? (results within months)

No.
There is just the theory, with scientific references. And many experiences of course.

REALLY?? So it should take one year for results regarding cellulite reduction?? I have reduced cellulite and weight DRAMATICALLY in only 2-3 months! In fact, after my first month following Wai's diet, i lost 10 lbs and saw a visible reduction in cellulite on my behind (my boyfriend can attest to this [Smile] . Has any one else had similar results??

Carolyn, that seems very surprising to me! Have you seen any difference at all? Even a little? Also, have you adhered to *every* detail? What do you use to wash your face, for instance? Do you use any topical applications?

Many dermatologists currently say that there is no diet-acne correlation. But if you review the literature in the various journals you will find 1) that very few controlled studies have actually been done, and 2) there is a good deal of anecdotal evidence to support a possible diet-acne correlation. For instance, when Zulus moved from villages to cities, and when nomadic Eskimos settled, both populations began to suffer from acne.(Rosenberg, Schaefer) These observations, among others, may suggest a connection between acne and 'civilized' diets. One of the the staples of civilization, of course, is cooked, prepared foods--which Wai hypothesizes is the cause of acne!

Anyhow, Carolyn, I recommend that you do some independent research of your own that you can share with you mother and with us. Maybe you'll find something that will help us bring Wai's diet to the attention of the scientific community. Good luck!

Rosenberg, E. William. (1981, April). Acne Diet Reconsidered. "Archives of Dermatology." 117(4):193-5.

Schaefer, Otto. (1971, November-December). When the Eskimo Comes to Town. "Nutrition Today." 6:8-16.

Shyan,

As with the sample diet regarding acne, it is individually VERY different how long it takes to see your cellulite diminish.
In acne, in one the acne fades away from day 2 or 3, while in others it takes at least 2 to 3 weeks.
Regarding cellulite, it takes between 2 months to one year to see results, so, you obviously are one of the lucky ones.

Hi Carolyn!
I followed the sample diet pretty closely for the first two months with the exception of some kind of munch food almost daily (usually coffee/tea/cooked vegies/soup).
I only consumed dirty protein on the weekends which was either grilled fish/shrimp or steak.
FYI I now wear a size 2 with little/no cellulite
I am 6 ft tall and weigh 130

hey shyan! thanks for your answer! i am about 6 ft too and i weigh about 100. I really wish to rid myself of this cellulite and i hope this diet will work for me too as id liek to model!
Thanks a lot [Smile]
By the way, is it possible to know the max dirty protein your skin can take? Perhaps mine can take more (or less) than the 15g daily! But i guess its hard to find out as its not a quick response like in the case of acne! How long does something u eat take to effect?

Hi Carolyn,
I think you may have typed in your weight incorrectly, as 100 lbs at 6ft tall can't be right(at least we hope it's not! [Smile] ....or maybe you converted it from KG to LBS wrong?

You are right, the exact quantity of dirty protein that i can tolerate is difficult to measure, as cellulite loss results (on a daily basis) is hard to measure. What I have found, is that dirty protein affects me much more than all other munch food.....over, say, a 2 week period, (which is why i limit it to weekends/dining out, when i am in a social situation and the cooked protein can't be avoided.) When i am able to avoid it entirely, my cellulte diminishes much quicker (along with the weight, so do be careful!!) I do drink coffee/tea every day, and have done so even in the sample diet period [Eek!] but it never seemed to affect my loss in weight/cellulite. Hope that helps!

one more quick question for RRM...
How often would you recommend exercising (30-60 minute speed walks) to lose cellulite only?

50 kg is about 110 lbs...at 5 10 that is much more realistic but still very thin my dear! But i am not one to talk at 6 ft and only about 15 lbs more than you! [Big Grin] Then again, we all know that modeling (especially print) does require this! Maybe RRM can help get that last bit of cellulite if you share what you eat on a daily basis?

The cellulite is not caused by a lack of exercise.
Physical activity strengthens the connective tissue, that makes your skin look firmer and tighter (no loose skin), but it does not counteract cellulite.
The cellulite is eliminated when the skin often enough renews itself under those new conditions of not retaining too much water anymore.
Now, your skin structure is still adapted to the cellulite / retaining too much water (new cells are composed according to the excisting holes). Due to the diet, first the water retention is eliminated, and then the skin can adapt to that new situation, which takes the longest.

Walking is great for the shape of your legs and behind though (any kind of walking).

Wai is precisely 6 feet tall and weighs 56 kg at the moment.
Though she has a very small waist (57 cm), she IS curvaceous (91 cm breast, 89 cm hips), and not too thin. So, I guess, when someone has less wider hips and breast, one can naturally weigh less without being too thin.

Hello everyone sorry i took so long to answer but I didn't realise there was a 2nd page either!!! I eat lots of fruit and about 16 brazil nuts every day, 100g sashimi a few times per week and pasta (sometimes with a cooked egg yolk inside, thats 3.3g protein right?), rice, clams, baked potataoes or chips, cereal, mushrooms, etc. everyday but never exceeding the 15g allowed daily.
Thanks! On the 23rd Nov i would have stuck to the diet 4 two months ... I REALLY HOPE TO SEE RESULTS! [Big Grin]

Hello all,
Carolyn, Shyan, I just wondered, how bad is (or WAS) your cellulite (especially Shyan, it's amazing that you noticed a difference so quickly.)

The reason I ask is because I am skinny myself (although in my case, I am short) but have always had cellulite on my upper thighs and butt. As I get older the dimples are creaping down my legs a bit! In certain lights my upper thighs look all bumpy. [Mad] Even though I am so thin! I would NOT want to lose anymore weight, in fact I would like to gain more.

I started the diet for acne and it has worked wonders for me. I have been on it for exactly 2 months now. Totally strict for the first month, cheating once in a while during the second month (mostly coffee and alchol and the occasional dinner out).

I am very committed to trying for as long as it takes, but I guess I am just curious whether I am starting from a similar point as either of you or if my cellulite is worse...

Thanks for your posts, very helpful stuff. And thanks RRM.

Sooooo sorry about the delay in getting back to you Lizzy!! Regarding my cellulite....it was never more then just a little bit of dimpling on my butt only (in the middle of my cheeks and only when i squeeze to be very specific) But it was certainly enough to make me mad [Mad] !!
My thighs never had cellulite, but they have definitely become smaller since i began Wai's diet. I wanted to be able to wear a g string and show nothing but a perfectly smooth, round, firm butt!! Now (3 months later) I nearly have it. I just need to spend a bit more time in the gym building more muscle tissue so that it will be a bit rounder/firmer. I walk every day, but it doesn't seem to change the shape of my butt(just made it smaller).

I started at 6ft tall, 145 and have lost 15 pounds all together. Hope that helps Lizzy!

Shyan

Shyan,

There is a perfect exercise that ONLY addresses your butt.
Most exercises that address your butt, also address your legs, and thus, when you increase your muscle volume on your butt, you will also increase the muscle volume on your legs (which makes them seem less long)
The only exercise that addresses your butt only, can be done at home, watching TV:

Lay down on the floor, on your front. Hold you hands under your chin, to support your head, so that you can watch TV. (or you can lay your head on the side, on your hands, on the floor)
You cannot do the exercise right with your arms down.
Then lift one of your legs up a bit, until you cannot go any further, not using any back muscles, but ONLY the muscles in your butt.
Do this only once, then do the other leg, and so on. Go on until you feel a burning sensation in the upper 'butt muscles' of both legs.
The muscles that you will use this way, are mainly the muscles in the upper part of your body. Thus, doing this exercise regularly, you will 'lift up' your butt; your butt will seem to be located higher. (making also your legs seem longer)

Don't do this exercise every day, because your body needs time to recover from the exercise; your body needs time to repair and expand ths muscle tissue. Especially the upper butt muscles are susceptible to injuries that can ;last quite a while. So, please do this exercise no more than once in every 3 days.

They essence of this exercise is to use ONLY the butt muscles, NOT muscles in your back. Please focus on that issue. Don't 'swing' your leg, just use the butt muscles to lift it slowly. Don't try to lift your legs higher. Only lift as far as your butt muscles can do the job all by themselves.

Good luck, and don't hesitate to ask more details about this exercise.

thank you RRM!! I understand the exercise you described completely. My degree is in physiology and i was a personal trainer for years....i will do this exercise 1-2 times/week and keep you posted! I was doing squats, but will stop as i certainly don't want bigger thighs!
