Better to avoid completely? How bad are sugar alcohols (ie sorbitol, mannitol, xylitol, etc)?

Wai,
would gum that contains sugar instead of sugar-free be better? I'm talking about which one would be less harmfull to skin.

Sorbitol is a natural sugar (the alcohol form of sucrose) present in fruits such as apple, apricot, peach, dates, grapes and berries.

Xylitol (the alcohol form of xylose) is naturally present in berries; strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and in mushrooms.

Mannitol (the alcohol form of mannose) is naturally present in pineapple, olives and carrots.

These alcohol sugars all have a sweet taste and laxative properties, and supply you with a bit less energy than glucose.
Some people have problems absorbing sorbitol (and / or fructose).I see them as one of the many substances in fruit that prevent overeating on one specific (group of) fruits, thus stimulating to eat different fruits.

non of these sugars is bad for your skin. some other substance may be, but if you don't swallow the gum, its neglectible.

That doesn't make any difference; it is no food.
