| Author | Topic: keeping on track / munch foods / raw nuts? |
| deb 09-10-2002 08:40 AM | Hi, I just found your site this morning and have been reading for hours. Maybe my questions are here somewhere... so if so, please direct me. Should the nuts be raw and are there nuts that we should avoid? Are there testimonies of weight loss like the acne testimonies? Likewise, is there a sample diet for weight loss? If I'm satisfied without munch foods, is it necessary to eat them? Wai, do you do any private coaching? I have a lot of weight to lose (90 lb). I go good for 4-5 days but then fall off track. I've been mainly trying to eat just raw foods for the last year and a half. I have gone as long as a month on 100% raw. Then I eat one bite of junk and binge for days. I've had this sneaky feeling for a long time that there was something in cooked/processed food that made us eat more. When I eat completely raw, my appetite is normal. Thanks for verifying this. It kind of makes me feel less mad at myself. Thanks! deb |
| Wai 09-10-2002 12:16 PM | quote:The should be raw, meaning that they should come in the shell, and that you shell them by hand. you cannot eat peanuts or pistachios, because they are already roasted in the shell. Don't eat non-sweet almonds, they cannot be consumed raw. The best nuts to eat raw are Brazil nuts and Macadamia nuts, and, to a lesser extend, walnuts and hazelnuts. quote:No, I'm sorry; I have had lots of email, but I have focussed on gathering acne testimonies first. I have been, and am, so extremely busy that I had to make choices. Maybe we can start the testimonies in the weightloss forum; it will come automatically; just takes some time. quote:It is exactly the same diet as for acne; the sample diet is far more effective than the diet including munch foods, though for most people far too strict quote:absolutely not! quote:I'm sorry, but I really don't have time for that, I don't even have time to answer all email...(not even private) quote:that happens to most people with any diet. That is why you need something to keep you on track - good cholesterol and munch foods. quote:did you consume fresh raw animal food? (raw fish / egg yolks); the good cholesterol contained in these foods inhibits your cravings. quote:Isn't is sad how people are massively misled, and made feel bad about themselves? |
| deb 09-11-2002 06:00 AM | >>>Isn't is sad how people are massively misled, and made feel bad about themselves? Yes, it is sad. I rode through town yesterday viewing stores & restaurants through different eyes. If nothing else compels us to eat right, this should. This is the way I've viewed doctors/medicine for a long time... since my dad's bout with cancer. The abuse and use of people makes my blood boil. To think... when I eat those candy bars, I'm falling prey to exactly what the money mongers want! If I can get this ingrained in my brain, I should be slim in no time! >>>>did you consume fresh raw animal food? (raw fish / egg yolks) No never. I will try. Another question... we grow pecans and peanuts locally. Are they ok raw, in the shell? Wai, thank you for all your work. I can't imagine all the hours involved in getting this information together... not to mention all the individual replies. It's mind boggling just to read one page. Well, I'll go read some more and see if I can get this figured out. I'd love to contribute to the testimonies for weight loss. Thanks again and again, deb |
| Wai 09-11-2002 12:57 PM | quote:You CAN eat raw peanuts, that is for sure, but they taste very differently from the peanut-taste that you know; they taste a bit bitter, grainy. I don't know about pecans. Trust your taste; if they don't taste great, why should you eat them? Let us know what you think of their taste, okay? quote:Thank you! It also works the other way around: I'm learning every day, from the questions and comments from all you guys. quote:That would be great. Good luck, and keep us posted! |
| deb 09-11-2002 03:58 PM | From Wai peanuts-they taste a bit bitter, grainy. I don't know about pecans. Trust your taste; if they don't taste great, why should you eat them? Let us know what you think of their taste, okay? Pecans are my favorite nut. Do you not have them there? If you've never tried them, do, by all means. I always thought they were fattening so this is great news!! Peanuts (raw) taste good to me but then I grew up on them. I read they were hard to digest but I've never noticed a problem. I'm anxious to see if this works. I believe all I've read but my weight loss has come to a complete halt so I think I'm a hard case. I will definitely keep you posted. Thanks again! Deb |
| Wai 09-12-2002 06:50 AM | quote:As you said yourself: "I go good for 4-5 days but then fall off track" So, it is not YOU that is a hard case, but the diet; it is hard to maintain the diet. If you would eventually succeed in maintaining the diet, you will eventually succeed in reaching your natural setpoint weight. |
| deb 09-12-2002 08:04 AM | Exactly. I realized after I posted that the statement wasn't true. The fat melts when I'm 100% raw but the binge times keep me where I am. Wai, I can't tell you the freedom this information has brought me. And there are so many like me. In all the weight loss groups you read of the guilt and self-loathing because they can't seem to stay on track. While I don't deny self responsibility, it is so good to know that all these years it hasn't been all my fault. BTW, I've eaten this way two days and have already dropped 4 pounds. (And am satisfied!) |
| Wai 09-12-2002 08:07 AM | quote:I think that is mostly water; this diet first eliminates the excessive water retained in the skin (and in the blood etc.). Please keep us all informed, okay? |
| deb 09-12-2002 10:55 AM | Yes, I'm sure. But very encouraging nonetheless, right? How long does it take for actual fat to leave, Wai? |
| Wai 09-12-2002 11:31 AM | Yes, it is encouraging, because either way; loss of bodyfat and/or loss of excessive water, are both good results. You utilize bodyfat for energy 24 hours a day. But, if you store equally (or even more) fat, then you wount lose weight of course. If you don't store new fat, you will lose bodyfat every single day. |
| deb 09-13-2002 11:01 AM | OK, thanks. That's good news. I'm going to stick to this... especially since I'm not having any cravings, and will let you know the results. I fully plan to be a weight loss testimony. Keep watching. Let the melt continue... |
| julian farah 09-16-2002 09:35 AM | Hi there, Deb and Wai, I lost 20 Kilos (aprox 44 lbs.) with this diet during the first three months and feel incredible, plenty of energy, I bought the book and Wai advices me a lot before the board. I restarted the diet 2 weeks ago and lost another 5 Kilos (11 lbs), my goal is another 25 kilos!!!, my life is changing. Iīm sure you can do it |
| deb 09-16-2002 09:55 AM | Julian, THANK YOU for posting that! So, if I figure right, you had about as much to lose as me? That is so encouraging!! And thanks for your vote of confidence. I'm finding it very easy to stick to because I'm really not hungry. The fats really do help. You say restarting? Did you stop for a while? Did you gain? Thanks again Julian!! |
| deb 09-16-2002 12:47 PM | Hi Julian, I neglected to say... Congratulations on the weight loss!! |
| julian farah 09-16-2002 11:01 PM | Hi Deb, Thankīs very much for your congratulations, I stopped the diet for some medical conditions and treatments that didnīt allowed me to eat sugars and fruits, besides that I tried to follow the diet, eating raw fish, nuts, etc. I gained just 2 Kilos meanwhile, but I lost them quickly and began to lost more weight. Following the Wai diet I am learning to listen my body and eating just when I'm really hungry, I focus my atention just in all the meals I can eat, and never think in what I canīt, like them doesnīt exist anymore or are for other kind of people. As Wai says, walk, walk and walk itīs incredibly helpfull for weight lost. I will be very happy to say in a few months: "BRAVO!!!!!" for us. Good luck, Julian |
