| Author | Topic: acne and sleep, sunlight, popping? |
| ajb 04-22-2003 08:05 PM | i have read a lot recently but i havnt found much information on these topics i know there are many q's, but if someone can answer these q's id be extremely happy just to let you know, i am trying the diet, previously every meal i ate involved a dairy product(cereal, macaroni, anything id make id put processed cheese on it)but i did drink probably 30-40 ounces of H20 per day(125 lb's) 16.5 yr old male (1)my face is pretty oily, as i have acne(acne in areas where facial hair is developing) to go along with. I wash my face with warm water/towel about every hour.so throughout the day i dont have much oil on my face if i keep washing, does this in turn cause acne by 2 much irritation? if my process did cause acne, any methods to clean oil off skin w/o the irritation? (2) ive noticed that when i use soap(once per day during a shower) on my face it dries out my face intensely, and wouldnt that make skin produce more sebum to counteract dry skin.must i use soap at all? (3)also i notice that after i sleep in, i generally have a lot of acne. why? i thought that in sleep your body repairs itself. my acne is more mild if ive been awake for a while, generally it seems pretty good during the night. (4)how about sun.one weekend i decided to see if tanning would kill the acne, in fact for one week my face felt decently smooth.i did notice more oil on my skin during the days after i tanned. is there milder way to take the advantage of the sun, without extra oil? is sun tan lotion bad? (5)during days when i lay my head down on my desk during class; during those days i generally notice more acne, than when i dont sleep in class. i laid my forehead on my arms crossed( no acne on forehead) (6)my acne is strange, in where it appears. sometimes itll be really heavy on my left cheek. it might be only really heavy on my chin and nose(actually like right now), or heavier on my right cheek. i never notice 2 areas that have the same concentration, there is always one area that seems to have 2 times the amount than the rest of my face. would sleeping on a certain side cause this? or do the sebum canals get blocked off at random in those areas specified? (7)yes, this is it my final question for your greatness. recently my acne on my face is generally the kind that have lots of pus in them, and are white, coming out of the skin.is it ok to break the skin and squeeze the pus out? its kind of embarassing having white bumps on my face.or is it wiser to not touch them at all? i thank you for reading this extremely long series of q's, i hope i get some responses, g'day |

I THINK just pat try and definately not rub dry with a towel.. I'm pretty sure the more oil you remove the more is eventually formed 2) Don't use soap at all since it dries out your face too much 3) I think that what causes you to oversleep may also trigger the acne? I really haven't seen that mentioned but it's my guess.. don't take my word on this one 4) You should protect your face from the sun and only with non metallic sun lotions as those can reflect the sun's rays and cause cell damage.. skin cancer 5) Again I assume that what makes you tired enough to sleep in class is also what triggers the acne but don't take my word for it 6) I don't know 7) I've seen someone mention that Wai mention that it's best to pierce them and let the puss pore out by itself.. of course I can't be sure if that's Wai's reccomendation. I think my answer's for the most part match what Wai might say so it may keep you from doing SOME negative things until Wai gets a chance to reply. |
| kikiecheekee 04-23-2003 05:39 PM | Have you tryed the "Sample Diet" to rule out any possiable culprits? |
| ajb 04-23-2003 05:53 PM | yea im trying the diet, and everything that wai says, im drinking TONS of water, and i am supplementing my diet with calcium pills, to replace the calcium that i used to eat(cheeeeese). this is my 2nd day on the diet, and i notice an improvement, but this is only day 2 and the improvement could just be a stroke of luck. but ill keep posting my results. ty for replies, id still like to hear from wai though ![]() |
| JustinCredible 04-24-2003 09:30 AM | Calcium pills are not good at all I think. Just like multivitamins e.t.c. |
| kikiecheekee 04-24-2003 10:54 AM | I think so too. Check out: http://www.4.waisays.com/ and http://www.3.waisays.com/ |
| Wai 04-25-2003 07:23 AM | dear AJB, (1) just as Dalai Gamma said; by removing the oil, you stimulate the production of more oil. the more foten you wash your face, the more oil and sebum will be produced to counteract dehydration of the outer skin (and thus this may lead to more acne) and as Dalai said: you can use low mineral water, cucumber juice and rosewater (once or twice a day) (2) As Dalai said: no soap (3) during your sleep, the acne tens to come to head. it is not bad at all, but it doesn't look nice (4) sunlight exposure dehydrates the skin, which eventually stimulates the production of oil and sebum the temporary beneficial effects don't outweight the adverse effects (5) once you have eliminated the dietary aspect in the cause of acne, you will probably not notice this correlation anymore... (6) link (7) it is best to drain the whiteheads indeed: link and you shouldn't take calcium pills, indeed |
| ajb 04-25-2003 04:42 PM | ty wai, ill re-post in a few days to show my progress |
