| AussieShep 09-24-2002 01:26 PM | How much does diet and hygiene or facial cleaning practices have on acne? Even if on this diet and not cleaning appropriately the face and infected areas one is still prone to acne right? |
| Wai 09-25-2002 10:06 AM | quote:The funny thing is that once you manage to totally clear your acne with this diet, it appears that even not cleansing your face at all does not cause new acne. It appears that acne is NOT caused by 'dirt' or 'bacteria' from the outside, but from the inside only. Only when your skin is exposed to extreme 'pollution', like the skin of unprotected mineworkers, or other people that work in an extremely dusty environment, only then can this cause acne. But not cleansing your face can normally not cause acne. Of course, regarding hygiene (not acne), it is still appropriate to cleanse your face daily. But, in acne patients, cleansing your face more than once a day, more likely causes acne than preventing it. |
| engesongwok 03-09-2003 03:09 PM | This topic is covered in the book "Acne can be cured". The author made an interesting observation that Bushmen in the desert have beautiful skin, despite the fact that they don't bath on a daily basis. (They only have enough water for internal hydration) He also noticed that people in other countries had terrible acne, despite washing daily, and steam baths are common. He attributed the acne to a number of factors, butterfat, alcohol and caffeine being the leading causes. |
