What evidence is there that coconut oil is NOT comedogenic? The coconut oil that I have says to leave on for an hour and then wash off. Plus that other previously posted acne website claims that it is very comedogenic.

just want to share my experience: coconut oil is the friendliest oil around for my skin. it doesn't cause breakout at all. i find it very light and works great as a rehydrater for the skin. but that's only my personal experience [Wink]

so far many many people with severe acne have found that they dont get acne from putting oil on their skin (while they do break out from almost any munch food)...

I use walnut oil, low in vit E, smells nice
I haven't had a single zit since I started using it 2 years ago (when I started this diet)...(wow has it been that long? [Big Grin] [Smile] [Wink] )
but even the tiniest piece of munch food makes me break out.

To people who can't get away with any munch food:
How severe was your condition before the diet?

I mostly had pimples on my forehead. (and some on my chin and nose) ..my forehead looked so bad at times that I wore hats to cover it up all day long, makeup only made it look worse. I didn't go out and I was cutting classes because I was so embarassed.
Now it's absolutely smooth. I never break out anymore (cos I don't touch any foods outside the sample diet) and recently decided to quit drinking coffee because it gives me some pimples, too.

Before the diet, I had very severe cystic acne (in size up to 1.5 inches wide), on my back, neck, chest and face.
On the diet, I use olive or walnut oil on the face every day, and never have a single zit (until I start experimenting again; once in every 3 months). The tiniest piece of munch food makes ME break out as well.

Dear Wai,I have been on the diet now 6 days and I am getting a few new pimples on forehead. I should confess I am still washing my face with purpose soap, but with low mineral water. The truth is, I am afraid to use the rosewater and afraid to put oil on my face, it seems to me( i know its probably wrong thinking) that putting oil on my face would make it break out. My over all complexion seems better but I have peeling skin. I have been following the diet part 100%. I so desperately want my face to be clear but am fearful of doing anything to make it worse. PLease advise.

your fear may keep you from clearing...

oil does not cause acne, but eliminates a dehydration triggered high sebum production
and thus may have to use oil in order to clear your skin
the rules are not there for no reason...

Dear Wai,
Thanks so much for the speedy response. So my only options for washing my face are cucumber juice or rosewater correct? Do I rinse my face first with the low mineral water, than use cucumber juice/rosewater ( but how do I wash, it seems a days worth of grime and dirt would need a good cleaning should I just use a cottom pad and gently rub? or scrub to help exfoliate the dead/peeling skin?) Than after that cleansing do I rinse with more low mineral water and thean apply oil? Also how much oil? Everyone on the bulletin board seems to be talking mostly about walnut oil. I did find some at the grocery store. It says ingredients:walnut oil. But everyone was also saying" oh make sure it is low in vitamin E, as this said nothing about E., I emailed the manufacturer and asked he said it was cold pressed and no added vitamin e but that it did contain natural vitamin e. Still no exact contents so I am unsure. Also it smells very nutty. The brand name is "International Collection" by Anglia Co. in UK. Could anyone with ULTRA sensitive skin recommend an oil/brand/type and where to get it? I would be very appreciative. So again how much oil would I put on my face, and I know you said while face is still damp but do you mean damp with rosewater/cucumber juice or with the mineral water you rinse off with? Thanks so much for any info. I feel like I am being annoying here but for anyone with problematic skin you know the greatest fear is making it worse. Thanks for info Wai. [Razz]

no, you should clean, but not too extensively; the protective layer should be affected as little as possible

that is perfect

rule number 8
