Hi, my name is Violeta and I am 24 right now.

I had acne , it was actually a strange combination of bad (and expensive) skin care products , changing the country and foods , stress ….

I moved to Canada 1.5 years ago and my skin changed completely , from oily but no acne problems to combinations / dry with a full face of acne. This was really strange because I was 23 and I have never had such problems before , maybe 1-2 pimples but nothing serious.

After 2 months of breaking out all the time I started to read a lot and basically try to find what is cosing this and how can I make it better.(the derm was not helping me at all [Roll Eyes] )

I changed completely my way of thinking , I used to think that expensive products are good and I believed all that the sales person was telling me. So , I got acne in 2-3 months using products that cost me hundreds of dollars.

Now , I do not breakout at all and I buy only products that I check first , I look at every ingredient , peoples raves / rants and only after this I buy. I have to admit that now , my whole routine doesn’t cost me more then 100$ and this includes : cleanser , sunscreen . treatment , tea tree oil for spots if needed , natural clay as mask.

When comes to my diet , I do not like meat and animal products(milk ... ) , never did but I eat fish , nuts (brazil , almonds , sunflower seeds …) vegetables and fruits , I take flax seeds , 2 teaspoons every day , I drink a lot of water and fresh juices that I make from OJ, vegetables etc.

I have looked at this book , some things are ok but some area little bit strange for me, like for ex. the consumption of raw fish … . I could not do this , I do not like it at all and plus there are the risks of getting parasites and bacteria . [Confused]

Is there something I am missing ?? TIA

it is not strange at all; especially women often only get acne in their 20s
until the age of 27 (but also beyond that age) we are subject to hormonal changes

it is strange for you because you grew up in a society that advocates eating sterile foods
if you would have grown up in Japan, it would have been as normal for you as breathing air

quote:
the consumption of raw fish ... there are the risks of getting parasites and bacteria
bacteria are not dangerous at all, unless you never eat raw food; only people with a weakened defense system can fall victim to bacteria.
So, the only thing you need to do, is to train your defense system, by exposing your body to low amounts of bacteria (the vaccination principle)

The body is even keeping bacteria as useful pets inside the body; your colon contains over 400 different bacteria that help your body producing vitamins, enzymes and maintain your defense system.
It has been proven that humans have weaker defense systems the less they are exposed to external bacteria

The risk of parasites are extremely small; there has only been one case EVER regarding getting a parasite from eating sushi
And if you want eliminate that negligible risk completely, just eat fresh raw tuna, which can never contain parasites
