| Cheryl2002 03-22-2003 08:54 AM | Dear Wai, I try not to put anything on my face apart from sesame oil....but on days when the sun is blazing, I use either fo these 2 lotion: 1) Oil of oaly White Radiance UV Natural Lightening Lotion, annd the ingredients are: Water, glycerin, octyl methoxycinnamate, zinc oxide, isohexadecane, isopropyl palmitate, steareth-21, cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol, titanium dioxide / dimethicone, dimethicone / dimethiconol, polyacrylamide / C13-14 isoparaffin / laureth-7, sucrose polycottonseedate, DMDM hydantoin / iodopropynyl butylcarbamate, tocopheryl acetate, fragrance, steareth-2, disodium EDTA, DEA-oleth-3 phosphate. 2) Garnier skin naturals mositerizer....oops, will tell you the ingredients next time! Better yet, Wai, can you advise on acceptable SPF moisturizer ? Thank you so much!!! |
| Wai 03-28-2003 08:42 AM | you should never use a moisturizer; they (the containing proteins) make your skin retain more water (initially just the outer skin, but this extra water ends up in the true skin below) but you can very well use a sunscreen (SPF) to protect your skin Why would you want to combine the both? titanium dioxide and zinc oxide arent good for your skin (pro-oxidative properties) and many compounds in fragrance are carcinogenic / toxic |
| Cheryl2002 03-28-2003 08:56 AM | Sorry Wai, what sort of sunscreen should I look out for, then? Thank you! |
| Wai 03-28-2003 08:58 AM | one that only promises you to protect you against the sun, and doesn't contain extra metals (zinc, iron, titanium) |
| Cheryl2002 03-28-2003 08:01 PM | Sorry Wai....this is really new to me....previously my SPF was usually contained in my lotion or moisturizer. I will start shopping around.....I don't think any counter (like clinque or chanel) carries just sunscreen products? Can anyone help to chip in - anyone already tried out certain cunscreen which feels ok for face? Thank you! |
