| Wai 03-13-2003 07:30 AM | quote:Your skin is certainly not too oily due to a lack of 'dermatologist stuff' the skin produces more oil due to high levels of certain hormones AND due to dehydration of the skin. you should not counteract your natural hormone metabolism, unless it is a defect (which hardly ever is the case) But you should counteract dehydration of the skin. if your skin is oily, you may think that it is not dehydrated, but it may very well be (oil and water are very different substances). To counteract overproduction of oil, you should prevent dehydration of the skin - by using non-dehydrating cleansing agents (rosewater, cucumber oil) - by not using any aggressive chemical on your skin - by not using moisturizers - by not exposing your skin to high mineral waters - by not consuming food that causes dehydration of the true skin (causing water retention in the true skin) - by protecting your skin with a little bit of oil applied to your skin (a fingertip) quote:for tips, see comment above here's a thread about cucumber juice quote:stay away from these, they dehydrate your skin, keeping you in a vicious cycle (making you depend on these) |
