| star95 01-15-2003 03:48 PM | hello! i have been on the sample diet for thirteen days and yes, my acne has decreased nicely. thank you wai very much. i have (or had) moderate acne; unfortunately, i have severe scarring. well, i have some questions now. i hope it is ok to post them in this thread. first of all: what make up remover can i use?? i don't want to use soap like you suggest. yes, i have rose water but it takes a gazillion cotton balls saturated in the rose water to get all my makeup off! ugh. second question: i have a pore cleanser: it is a mechanical device that uses suction to remove the oil and plugs from the face. is this safe to use? is it an irritant? would you not suggest using it? thanks to everyone, i enjoy reading the bulletin board. it has been very supportive during the past two weeks. |
| Wai 01-15-2003 03:55 PM | hello star, quote:i never suggested that. i always advice to use a normal makeup remover quote:it can cause irritation it is not the clogging by oil/'plugs' that causes acne, so you don't need it while on this diet. how bad was your acne (how many new zits a day / week / how many zits at any given time?) how long did it take before you saw the first results? |
| star95 01-15-2003 07:05 PM | hi wai, thanks for the response. quote:i would have about five to ten active breakouts on my face on any given day. some would be more "surface" zits while others would be cysts. as soon as one would go away, another would take its place. the derms i saw would always say it was a mild case. but the scarring is pretty extensive: pock marks on my cheeks, my right cheek in particular. on the sample diet, i did not get any new cysts or bad zits that would last for weeks and weeks. i would get little zits (like where the nose meets the face). just today, though, i got a zit between my lip and my nose. it might be because i ate raisinss/walnut mixture. the raisins didn't have any sugar added, it's those regualar raisins you buy at the store, "sunmaid" brand. the only things i have eaten since january 2nd are fruit, avocado/cucumber salad (i hate tomatos), brazil nuts/walnuts shelled by hand, extra virgin cold pressed olive oil, and dried fruit. maybe the sunmaid raisins were not sundried, i do not know. but no major breakouts on my cheeks, which has been really bugging me the most as my cheeks scar really bad. could you recommned any good makeup removers i could purchase? i'd appreciate it. i won't use the pore sucker if it irritates my skin. thanks !! |
| Wai 01-16-2003 07:21 AM | quote:there is really no need to; they are basically all the same... |
| lyn 03-11-2003 09:37 AM | Wai, would you mind letting us know what kind you use (make-up remover)? I was gonna purchase Estee Lauder but would rather buy even a cheaper one if they are all virtually the same....Thanks a bunch! |
| Wai 03-13-2003 07:41 AM | i use different ones, and i feel i shouldn't recommend any over others... what feels fine for my skin for a period of time, isn't anymore at some other time; maybe that the skin can only handle the exposure to a certain mixture of harsh chemicals for a limited period of time, and then prefers any different mixture over the mixture it had to endure for that past while we all have different skins, and you should try different ones, and establish which one feels best for your skin at that moment; the least dehydrating listen to your skin's complaints carefully, and change brands whenever your skin feels like |
| kris 05-16-2003 12:08 PM | I am about to try this diet but if I am to only use rosewater or cucumber juice to cleanse this, I am assuming, means no make-up, since it is recommended I do not use any make-up removers. I do not think I can go 2 weeks without make-up, my skin looks bad enough with make-up, will this be a problem? Also I have been researching make-up and make-up removers for that matter and everything I have found has these dangerous ingredients, I am really frustrated and tired of looking for products that do not contain these ingredients..... I have read many of the other threads and it looks as if no one really knows of any products without these ingredients. thanks for any clarification and input. |
| Wai 05-16-2003 12:09 PM | quote:i never said so yes, you can use a make up remover quote:you shouldn't be too strict about this what you can do, is compare the ingredients of products from which you want to choose one; you simply choose the one with the least bad ingredients then pay close attention to your skin's reaction during the first few weeks that you use it (also after, since it sometimes can take quite a while before your skin reacts adversely) |
| shawnamarie 05-17-2003 09:33 AM | What should I be washing my face with if I wear make-up during the day? I am assuming that cucumber juice just won't cut it. Thanks! |
| PhiVan 05-17-2003 09:34 AM | In addition to Shawna's question: is it okay to use a cleanser that has oil in them? |
| PhiVan 05-17-2003 09:35 AM | I tried to find a cleanser that has the friendliest ingredient, but it is quite a challenge to find one that does not have too many irritating ingredients, i've picked one that is the least irritating, and i'm listng them. Please look at them and see if this is a good cleanser: -certified organic lavender floral water -certified extracts of gingko biloba -green tea -lavender -cucumber extract -certified oragnic aloe barbadensis -olefin sulfonate -cocamidopropyl betaine -vegetable glycerin -NaPCA -panthenol -tocopheryl acetate -allantoin -magnesium ascorbyl phosphate -retinyl palmitate -citric acid -glyceryl cocoate -methyl/propylparaben -pure essential oils |
| Wai 05-17-2003 09:45 AM | quote:you should use a make up remover quote:that depends on how much you want to clean your face because with the oil the cleanser doesnt clean so well; you need to apply the oil afterwards PhiVan i will return later to comment on the ingredients, okay? (have little time left) |
