I have had great results on the diet after a month-(quite a lot of cheating but getting better and better)Thank you Wai-your diet is fabulous !
I often want to walk up to acne sufferers I see on the street and tell them about you! I guess they will come to you in their own time though.
My problem is that although I use filtered water to wash my face and use only an all natural clay based wash (made by Lush) my skin is very dry which I have never had before. of course I still have an oily T zone. I am worried that this will lead to wrinkles. I have tried almond oil and rosa mosqueta oil (rosehip) but they don't seem to moisturise as well as moisturiser. Are there any brands of moisturiser/anti-aging cream that are non acne-causing? I have heard that SKII -a Japanese brand is very good for anti-aging. ( I am 33 !)

Hi,

Glad to hear you have been on the diet for a month and already have such a great result. I can't really help you but thought I would ask Wai for advise about something similar.

Wai, what do you think about using the P20 sunfilter? It's meant to be used once a day on clean skin. I like it but is it okay?

Thanks.

How bad was your acne? (how many zits at any given time, or how many new ones a day / week / month?)
What areas did your acne affect?
At what age started it?
When did you start to see results with the diet?

I hope so, but, I guess not enough acne people know about this diet though. It would be great if all people with acne could be informed about it, so that they could chose whether they want to give it a try. Unfortunately, only a tiny little fraction of acne sufferers knows about this option.

Clay based washes always dehydrate your skin!!!
You shouldn't use that wash!
The only thing you need, is to remove the dirt on your face, and cucumber oil and rosewater perfectly do that job without dehydrating your skin.
Then, you need to prevent dehydration by applying oil to your skin.

In many acne sufferers regular moisturizers don't cause acne, but in ALL OF US they accelerate the aging of the skin!
Moisturizers have one basic property: they force the skin to retain more water by making your skin absorb water-attracting molecules contained in the moisturizer. This first 'moisturizes' (= forcing to retain more water) your outer skin, but then these molecules get into the layer below, the true skin, and then they attract water FROM the outer skin, DEHYDRATING the outer skin, which accelerates the aging of the outer skin!
Thus you need to take it on over and over again, just as a person on cocaine needs to keep on taking the cocaine to prevent 'going down' again, because this 'upper is always followed by a down'.
Please don't use ANY moisturizer, and do the only sensitive thing: PREVENTION. (no clay wash, no soap, just cucumber juice or rosewater, and applying a bit of (low vitamin E) oil to the skin)

Do you know what anti-aging creams do?
The opposite.
They make your skin shed / peel off faster (by different means / techniques), which makes your skin look younger, but in the meanwhile, the aging process is accelerated, because of the accelerated shedding / peeling, thus making you eventually look old way before 'your time'.

I don't know it.
what are the ingredients, and what are the claims?

Hi Wai,

I realised much later that it would have been a good idea to post the ingredients! [Big Grin] Glad you pointed it out anyway.

Alcohol denat.
Aqua
Propylene glycol (bummer! I know it's in the list)
PABA
Hydroxypropy methyl-cellulose

That's it! It's the ONLY suncreen I have ever used that contains just five ingredients (four if you exclude the water :-)

It's only claim is that it is a once a day sunfilter and that you would not burn if you used it to tan. The PABA I think is a natural constituent of the human body (a vitamin) and that is it's active ingredient. I think that alcohol denat. is used so it won't be oily/greasy. It says that after it has been applied on cleaned skin and left for thirty minutes then you can rub in your normal moisturizer and put make up on.

It gets really sunny where I live and I work in an environment with a lot of exposure to the sun. Unfortunately as a child I spent a lot of time outside in the sun unprotected and now my skin is visibly prematurely wrinkled, especially the back of my hands and my legs. I use this suncreen to prevent any more damage.

I just want to know if the benefit outweighs the risks.

Thanks in advance. [Big Grin]

that is relatively good, yes. (except for the Propylene glycol, of course)

PABA is actually a co-enzyme, just as vitamins are, but the definition of vitamins is that they cannot sufficiently be produced by the body. PABA is sufficiently produced by the body.
Some call PABA a vitamin, so that they can sell it to people in/as a supplement.

That is good; e.g. many sunscreens also claim that they moisturize the skin, which is not okay. (accelerating aging of the skin)

seems to me, yes, because protecting your skin to overexposure of sunlight is VERY important.
