Hi, I've been trying this diet for four weeks now and I've been living with the headaches the entire time. I don't take any drugs to help the headaches; I just live with it or go to sleep when it gets rally bad. Also I've been looking at the board and reading to see if maybe I'm doing something wrong with the diet that’s causing them.

My acne started when I was 11 and it’s been non-stop ever since, I’m 31 now. I’ve tried almost everything others have posted without success. I decided I’m tired of drugs and want to do it naturally. The only thing is that after 4 weeks of trying this diet my face is worse than it’s ever been, and I live with headaches 24/7.

I really need help, what am I doing wrong. I only eat what’s on Wai’s Sample diet. At first I was always feeling hungry and weak, so I starting eating more. Now I feel like I’m eating all the time. Yet I’m loosing a lot of weight, feel lousy, and my acne is just getting worse everyday.

In the four weeks I’ve changed how I eat because it has not been working and I figure it’s because I’m doing it wrong. At this point here is what I’m doing.

Sample Day
I start off with a glass of juice made with a juice extractor (to try an minimize the weight loss) The fruits I use varies, but it’s mostly green apples mixed with another fruit like pear or whatever I feel like that morning

Then I prepare a big bowl of mixed fruits, and a bowl of avocado with lots of extra virgin olive oil. I take this to work with me, and I just eat when I get hungry. I eat some of the fruit and I always follow it with the avocado with olive oil. Aside from this I eat sashimi for lunch every other day, making sure I eat the fruit and avocado first.

For dinner I prepare another bowl of fruits and a bowl of avocado with extra virgin olive oil, and every other day a glass of OJ with 2 or 3 egg yolks. I tend not to eat the sashimi and the egg yolks on the same day.

I was eating a lot of Brazil and hazel nuts before, but stopped in the hopes that maybe they were what was causing the acne. But things are not getting any better. I make sure to sit for 1.5 hours after both the sashimi and egg yolks. And I’ve taken a hormone test to see if maybe my hormones are off, but all is normal. Just it case this info is also needed I’m 5’2” 110lbs.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me.

Are you adding sugar and oil to the juice? If your losing weight, you may not be consuming enough energy throughout the day. For a person your size you may need to drink at least a litre of freshly squezed O.J. with at least a half a cup of sugar and the oil to balance the sugars. Drink this throughout the day. The fruit by itself is not enough.

Lots of small meals of fruit balanced with fat is neccesary throughout the day, not just when you get hungry. The litre of O.J. will also help with the energy needs of your body.

Are you balancing your fruits with enough lipids(fat=olive oil, avacodo, etc?) Every two grams of carbohydrates(sugar) you need at least 1 gram of fat. Use the nutrient calculator for this.

Is this fresh sashimi? It cannot be frozen or cooked, both will result in intake of dirty protein and thats a bad thing baby.

From what it sounds like, you are only consuming the fruits 2 to 3 times a day, or only when your hungry--I may be wrong. Why dont you stop eating the sashimi for a couple of weeks and stick to raw eggs only. If you only consume eggs you will have to eat at least 4 EVERY DAY for a person your size. I dont think it is entirely neccesary to eat shashimi, sashimi made be break out cooked or completely fresh.

I had headaches as well at the preliminary stages of this diet, these headaches went away when I consumed more egg yolk. Maybe it will help you also : )

I hope this helps.

The combined symptoms make it seem to me that you are not constantly ingesting enough energy, could that be right?
Regarding the headaches:

Here Wai said:
"There are a number of possible explanations:

- You are not consuming enough fruit; the carbs from the fruits (or other food of course) are essential to your brain, because the brain mainly functions on glucose. Make sure to eat enough fruits and eat a few bites of the salad containing sufficient olive oil to stabilize blood-sugar level. Make sure to eat enough!!!

- You may, in the beginning, react to the amines in fish, this goes away after a few times.

- Serotonine; maybe you are reacting on the serotonine in different fruits. Especially banana, papaya, avocado and pineapple contain much serotonin. Though the brain also composes serotonin, this serotonin from fruits can not be used as the neurotransmitter serotonin. The body can easily decompose this amine through the actions of sepcial enzymes, called MAOs (mono-amine-oxidase).
However, if you are not used to consuming much fruits, you produce little of these MAOs, which may result in a splitting headache.
The good news is that the body adapts its production of MAOs to the amount of serotonin that needs to be decomposed, but this adaptation takes a few days (up to about a week)
So hold on!!!"

And I’ve taken a hormone test to see if maybe my hormones are off, but all is normal.

Can you please post the test results here, so that I can take a look at it?

Thanks Jay_1 and RRM. I will adjust my diet.

RRM, unfortunately the hormone test did not give me any specifics. I took a blood test and receive a notification in the mail saying all my hormones were within normal levels. That's it.

Hmm
I asked because it matters very much WHAT hormones are checked; they can never check ALL.

I get a mild headache, characterised mostly by tightness in the temples, about five minutes after eating the following concoction:
2 egg yolks
.25 avocado
dash vanilla (one time it was extract in glycerin, one time in alcohol)

Does anyone know what this might be from? (I hope it's not the vanilla, since this is sine quo non for making the egg yolks palatible).

I have noticed, though, since I started with the yolks (I used to drink them in OJ, but no longer can drink OJ) my mental stamina and clarity have greatly increased. [Smile]

I get a headache after eating bananas, go figure. I remember reading something in Wai's book that you should slowly encorporate foods that raise serotonin, because you're body isn't used to it. Maybe's that's what's happening after your egg consumption.

The orange juice makes my teeth hurt. They seem more eroded than b4. It's not necessarily the juice, I am trying to adjust things, though, to descelerate the erosion. My teeth were already a bit translucent and thin when I started this diet. The orange juice also makes me feel a bit speedy, even when consumed with fats. I'm not accustomed to drinking juices; I don't much like them.

I have been experimenting, though, and it seems that avocados which are not organic cause me headaches. It might just be a coincidence or correlation, not causation. I realized, too, that I often have headaches but there are many different types. [Smile]

Fabienne,

I moved your posts, and the responses, to this thread, because this one is already about headaches. (Please read it)
Next time you want to ask / report something, can you PLEASE check the search engine first before posting?
