| wr_uae 01-25-2003 09:59 AM | Hi Wai, I've been on the diet for two and a half weeks now...My skin feels ultra smooth but I'm still breaking out all over my back, my chest, and my face...some days seem to be worse than when I was not on the diet, I must be going wrong somewhere! My diet consists of the following: Breakfast (Combination of 4-5 Fruits (Medium sized Bowl of Fruit) Banana Apple (Peeled) Grapes Pineapple Rock Melon Water Melon Orange Kiwi Pear (Peeled) Strawberries Avacado Extra Virgin Olive Oil Brazil (Freshley Shelled) Wallnuts (Freshley Shelled) Snack: Apple Lunch: Tomatoes Cucumber Raw Salmon or 3 Egg Yolks Avocado Extra Virgin Olive Oil Snack: Pear Snack Before Dinner: Small Bowl of fruit Dinner Either: Tomatoes Carrots Cucumber Avocado Extra Virgin Olive Oil or Medium Bowl of fruit same as breakfast I drink Volvic Water I clean my face with Rose water and mosturize with Coconut Oil and wash the rest of my body with just water in the shower. How critical is the fat at to sugar ratio? I read the note in the book on the sugar, fat ratios but find it really difficult to work out is there anybody out there who could just talk me through a sample Breakfast for example? I would like to think that Im getting enough fat with at least 2 avocados & plenty of olive oil per day with the fruits. Is it possible that I could be allergic to maybe some fruit or something else that I'm eating? I noticed since I stated the diet that I have a dry patch of skin at the side of my middle finger and when I cut up some fruit it tends to sometimes sting a bit. Its really frustrating because I'm so close to finally being in control again. Hope you can help Thanks wayne One more question can I eat Lettuce at this early stage of the diet? |
| bk 01-25-2003 10:58 PM | Hi, I'll try to answer part of your question, someone else will answer the other parts, or might even correct my answer(!).quote:Here's a very quick example to give you the idea: I want to eat 2 bananas, 2 oranges, and half a cantelope (muskmellon) for breakfast. So, I go to the nutrient calculator and enter that in. Now, I read out that there are 103 grams of carbohydrate in my selection. I know that for every 2 grams of carbohydrate I should eat about 1 gram of fat. That means I need to add about 50 grams of fat for this selection. I have some choices as to what to eat for fat... olive oil, avocado, brazil nuts, etc. So, again using the nutrient calculator, I can find out that to get about 50 grams of fat I need either 200 grams of avocado, or 75 grams of brazil nuts, or 50 grams of olive oil. So there you have it. That's all there is to it. Good luck, Brian |
| wr_uae 01-26-2003 11:45 AM | Thanks Brian...think I've got it Total lipid (Fat)............. I just want to make sure, is this the reading I should be looking at for the total fat? |
| wr_uae 01-26-2003 11:48 AM | got it!!!! thanks! ![]() |
| Wai 01-26-2003 03:58 PM | i don't think its an allergy (no symptoms)quote:For some, VERY much. and you regularly don't take fat when you snack fruit... so, this might be the culprit. quote:wait a bit longer... Wayne, please hang on in there a bit longer, for some it takes a bit longer... (please read the testimonies) |
| wr_uae 01-31-2003 01:31 AM | Update: Been on the diet for just over 3 weeks now and the change in my skin and acne has dramataclly slowed compared with the first week. My skin is still soft although occasionally I get a slightly dry patch in the center of my back (about the size of my hand) my skin on my forehead also get greasy but not as bad...im not sure what is causeing this!! I forgot to mention that i was following the fruit snacks with a handful of freshly shelled brazil nuts. I've started to weight everything to make sure I getting enough carbs: fats ratio....It doesnt seem to have made any difference. The only other thing I can think of is the water I shower in...there could be a lot of chemicals in there what are not doing my skin any good! if this is the case how the hell do I get a shower or clean myself? I think I have cystic acne especially on my back & chest area I also get the 3-4 spots around the jaw area, and although a lot have gone down ( on my back ) new ones have and still are appering just not as bad or as much....Just don't know if I will ever eliminate it! | Wai 02-01-2003 02:42 PM | quote:that is STILL good news: you are making progress... and thus, you are going in the right direction, and thus, you will eventually get there, as long as you are making progress quote:don't worry, that will normalize with time quote:to make sure, you can try to not eat the Brazil nuts for a while. Instead, you need to consume more olive oil (or avocadoes) quote:i don't think so but make sure to use some oil on the dry patch quote:you wount know until you are clear... |
| Sanna 02-03-2003 11:23 AM | I seem to get some pimples (sometimes) when I am eating Brazil nuts but when I replace them with avocadoes my skin is totally clear.. why do Brazil nuts cause pimples?(they only contain clean protein, I shell them by myself) |
| Wai 02-04-2003 01:57 PM | sometimes Brazil nuts can cause pimples because even though they are shelled by you, they are already dried in their shell. REALLY fresh Brazil nuts can only be obtained in Brazil... Depending on my cycle, i sometimes adversely react to raw nuts too (depending on how much i eat) |
| wr_uae 02-07-2003 01:26 AM | Hi, Quick update, approx 5 weeks on the strict diet, I was still getting acne around weeks 3-4, but after getting good feedback from the board...I cut out completely the following Nuts, Shaving Gel, and washing my acne prone areas with rose water only the first couple of days I once again saw big improvements (slimilar to what I saw when I first started the diet) virtually all the acne has cleared up on my face, there are still 3 around the jaw line they are not red or inflamed and are hardly noticeable but I can feel the lumps under the skin…what are these and approximately do they take to go? My back and chest are doing better…however I’m still getting acne in these areas, nowhere near as bad as it was! and a lot has cleared up…again most of it on my back seems to be like my face, not red or inflamed..but the difference is these are noticeable because they are big lumps and sometimes uncomfortable. During these last couple of weeks I’ve started getting aching sensation in my middle back area slightly on the right hand side…I have no idea what this could be!, weather I not getting enough protein ( I’m average size perhaps a bit on the thin sidebut not anorexic, I would say I’m moderately active and I have either 3 egg yolks or approx 60-70g of salmon both fresh & raw) or I’m getting a deficiency in a particular vitamin or something else…don’t know if its related but I’m also still getting very dry patch on my middle finger, it tends to sting when coming in to contact with citrus fruit…any ideas? I just have a couple more questions: PROTEIN- you mentioned 3 raw egg yolks or 60g raw salmon…is this just a starting point for stating the diet until the individual finds there own maximum protein intake level? If yes then it is safe to go above this level? What are the best ways to eat protein? Eg. 3 egg yolks at one meal are to spread them throughout the day? I have read the recent posts about fruit combining with fruit…I understand everybody is different but what are the general rules? I usually have a about 5 different fruits mixed in medium size fruit bowl with sliced avocado with a lot of olive oil, I don’t get gasses but sometimes feel slightly bloated, can this be a significant contrubution to acne? If yes then should I be eating more smaller portions spread throughout the day? When you mention adding pure sugar +olive oil when juicing fruits…what would be a good example for the sugar…honey? If yes what honey should I be looking for…in jars from the supermarket? And one last question which is better Italian olive oil or Spanish olive oil…does it matter? I anyone one there can shed any light on these problems please post! Hang in there, you’ll make it! Sorry for the long post! Thanks Wayne |
| Wai 02-08-2003 03:46 PM | quote:they are not inflamed anymore (because the water retention has been decreased), but the remainders are still in there. The moment the water retention increases again, they will re-inflammate... So, they will probably not come into the open (as a whitehead / yellowhead), but will be cleaned up by claening enzymes 'from the inside'. this may take a while..., but they will gradually fade away quote:one aspect of this diet is that your body is no longer sedated by beta-carbolines and opioid peptides anymore, so that you may notice sensations you haven't noticed before. Keep a close watch at it! quote:you can safely eat more egg yolks (about 5 in total), and/or fish (up to about 100 gram) now. quote:best in one meal, when you have plenty of time to relax afterwards quote:they are mentioned in the thread, and also listen to your stomach... a bloated feeling means a non-perfect combination it can be a small contribution to acne and yes, it is better to eat smaller portions, and fruits eaten more separately quote:huh? i don't understand this question... quote:in both countries they make good and bad oils... |
| wr_uae 02-13-2003 01:47 AM | quote: quote:I suppose I ment was is honey (what you buy in a jar from the supermarket)classed as a pure sugar what you can add to blended fruits or should this sugar be somthing like the basic bags of sugar you can buy like refined sugar? |
| Wai 02-13-2003 12:18 PM | ah, that is what you meant. Honey is okay, but only cold processed honey is 100% safe (honey contains protein too; about 0.4%) |
| mliq 05-08-2003 11:25 AM | Let me clarify this Wayne, you cut out nuts & rose water completely? So what do you use to wash your face? |
| Wai 05-09-2003 11:52 AM | cucumber juice is just as good |
