I seem to be more constipated on this diet than the low carb high protein diet I was. I have had trouble getting 3 meals a day some days? Could that be why? Do other people get constipated when they don't eat enough? What can I do to have softer stools? I'm eating a ton of fruit!

Thanks

if constipation is something you have suffered from quite some time, it may take a while before your digestive tract has recovered.
To give it some rest / time to recover you might consider to drink mainly juices for a while (pressed juices, such as OJ, and juice from the juice extractor, not the blender / mixer)

then it has to cope with neither the sedative substances (in wheat products / cooked foods) nor with too much stimulating substances (excess fiber)
Your digestive tract may be a bit 'exhausted', and needing rest. See how that goes.

And, to answer your question, yes, not consuming enough energy all the time, prevents proper functioning of the colon. Especially not consuming enough fats can cause constipation, since fatty acids are the main source of energy for the colon.
So, please consume enough fat all the time...

I have been very strict for 2 weeks. For the first 10 days, I had small amounts of garlic, vinegar, lemon juice, and dried fruit, but on your advice I cut those out. Otherwise, I had only ripe fruit, tomatoes, cucumbers, avocados, extra virgin oilve oil, raw egg yolks, raw honey, raw fish, brazil nuts and walnuts that I have shelled myself. I make sure to always have some fat with fruit because I feel sick otherwise.

Over the past few days, the constipation has lessened, but I want to make sure I'm doing everything to stop it. My grandmother recently died of colon cancer, so I am very "colon conscious" and want to do EVERTHING to improve colon health [Smile]

how about pressed juices (OJ), and juices from the juice extractor?
and consuming MORE fat (oil added to the juices; zipping from the juices all the time)?
