| Isis 01-01-2003 06:12 PM | Hello again, I previously posted about a day of little or no appetite. It has carried on till the end of yet another day! Is there something wrong with me? In the past I used to always munch on something every few hours. Back then there were days when I had no appetite, but on this diet this seems to becoming a problem! Should I set an alarm clock to ring at regular intervals to remind me to eat? I have tonnes of wonderfully ripened local and exotic fruit, but often end up carrying them back home with me cus I 'forgot' to eat them. I have just eaten some fruits and an avocado etc. but it is 11 minutes past midnight and I am about to go to bed. I had eaten nothing all day! Time just flew by and when I realised it was too late. It's not as if I was busy or anything. I know you said we should avoid eating so late, but I don't want my blood sugar to fall while I am asleep. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME? Thanks for any advise. |
| Wai 01-02-2003 01:56 PM | quote:Is that it? Or are there also moments that you look at these fruits, and simply don't feel like eating them? Have you tried drinking mainly juices instead? Not the juice from a blender / mixer, but just pressed juices (OJ) and juices from the juice extractor. It may be that your body just doesn't want to digest all that fiber in whole fruits. My body prefers to digest as little fiber as possible. Please try it. quote:It has become a pattern, and now we need to find out what the cause is. It may very well just be that your body doesn't like to digest so much fiber. Eating nothing is easy, and once your doesn't feel the bad effects of that, and does feel the advantages, it is easy to go on, and make it a habbit. You need to break out that pattern. Please make yourself some big bottles of juices, and start zipping from it very regularly. Once you manage to force yourself to, your body will follow, and start asking for it, because it is the same as with drinking water; once you get used to it, your body wants to keep on drinking on a very regular basis. Please try. |
| Isis 01-02-2003 05:38 PM | Thanks Wai. I can't stand juice (I even used to have a juice extractor and several recipe books to see if that could change things. Even my body is in agreement about the juice thing cus the few times I have involuntarily thrown up almost immediately after eating have been after I drank juice (freshly made AND shopbought...for ALL kinds of juice...apples, bananas, strawberries, oranges, mango, pineapple, etc). I might consider the timer option. I'll aim for 8 a.m, 12 noon, 3 pm, 6 pm and 9 pm. Thanks again. |
| James 01-04-2003 01:13 AM | me 2 i rarely get hungry anymore as if i have no appetite and it can b quite amuseing but do u think this lack of appetite could b due 2 somekind of a systemic malfunction the part where ure brain tells u ure hungry have i broken my appetite? |
| Isis 01-04-2003 07:01 AM | hmmmm... Yesterday I ate breakfast at 8 a.m. It was around 6 p.m. before I realised that I hadn't eaten anything all day! I felt a bit frustrated at the thought that I would have to try what Wai suggested about drinking juice. The thing about me is that if I have to do something I find unpleasant, then it ruins everything else...like the diet! In anger I decided to have my first munch food (to see if that could stimulate my appetite) so I had a massive bowl of sweet popcorn and half of a gooey chocolate cake. It was disgusting...I felt like I was being force fed Today it's now about 1 in the afternoon and I have yet to have breakfast. The funny thing is that when I 'remember' that I have not eaten for several hours I actually look forward to the fantastic fruits/salad etc that I have. To be honest though, I look forward to the salad more than I do to eating the fruits because I think I am addicted to avocados (I used to be addicted to them years ago, when I was a teenager). I once had three avocados in one go! Of course I felt my stomach rumbling later on, but they taste so good! It has come to the point when I sometimes eat fruits just so I can eat an avocado! I probably consume two or three a day. One in my salad and two at dinner...with lots of olive oil. Wai, come to think of it, could it be that I am consuming too much fat and that is why my body lowers my appetite to stop me from doing that? I think I consume over 2 kg of fruits as well, but maybe the proportion of fat is too high? My salads are literally drenched in extra virgin olive oil and...avocado My favourite fruits are mango, sharon fruit, cox apples, nectarines and papaya. Do they contain appetite suppresants? Please help. I REALLY HATE juices, if I had to have them then I would probably go off the diet within a few days.Thanks. PS: I am of average weight but also mildly anaemic and as I don't take iron, I worry that if I don't eat enough then I would become seriously anaemic again (and when it gets that bad I HAVE to take iron...which upsets my stomach). Even when I was severely aneamic in the past I had a normal appetite. |
| Wai 01-05-2003 03:46 PM | Isis, quote:Have you tried juice with sufficient oil added? You might be someone who thrives on consuming more fats than sugars, and there is nothing wrong with that. quote:you are not the only one! quote:So? Why don't you start with the avocadoes? they are fruits too! quote:There is NOTHING wrong with eating MORE avocadoes! quote:You are not eating too much fat. But, yes, fat does inhibit your appetite, for the simple reason that it so very effectively satisfies your need for energy. As long as your ingesting enough sugars too (e.g. to supply the brain), you are not consuming too much fat. quote:The proportion of fat is absolutely not too high. The avocadoes are fruits too, just as tomatoes and cucumber are. The good thing about fat is that is stabilizes your blood sugar level. Maybe you wount undereat if you only eat those foods that you really like (avocadoes, salad)? quote:Not that I know. Can you juice these fruits, and add some oil? quote:then you need to chose those foods that are high in iron. Please submit your diet to the nutrient calculator, and check how much iron it supplies you with. Then replace low iron foods with high iron foods. Are you okay with consuming fresh raw egg yolks? |
| Wai 01-05-2003 03:51 PM | quote:We are used to the hunger that we know that we get from appetite enhancers in 'normal' foods. But that hunger is not natural. It is created by the food industry. Natural hunger is caused by a lack of energy, which triggers your brain to want to eat. So, the question is: does your body lack energy? Are you losing weight? quote:No. You had an appetite for food before the diet, caused by opioid peptides, and beta-carbolines. These are gone now, and so is the appetite created by them. Now, you should learn to listen to your body when it needs the energy. |
| Isis 01-06-2003 03:48 PM | Thanks Wai. I will continue on the diet with positive thoughts now that I know I can eat even MORE avocados. Thanks again. |
| Isis 01-06-2003 03:50 PM | Sorry, I forgot to answer your question about weight loss. I don't know if I am losing weight (although my clothes are begining to hang off me) as I haven't a clue what I weighed before I started the diet! I am not tired...in fact, I think I have better concentration and sustained energy than I did before. |
| Wai 01-07-2003 02:39 PM | Isis, what is your height and weight? |
| James 01-08-2003 02:48 PM | no im not needing energy or loseing weight but with little appetite for food do u think this is normal that i maintain myself without eating much at all |
| Wai 01-09-2003 07:34 AM | quote:if you are not losing weight, you are obviously ingesting all the energy that you need. So, no worries. You have less cravings for foods because you are ingesting less appetite enhancers (beta-carbolines / opioid peptides). That is normal. |
