AuthorTopic: Avacado causing acne for anyone?

I've been on this diet for about a year now and my skin stays mostly clear except for when I eat avacado. It's always about a day later or so and always on my cheek. I never have painful zits except when I eat avacado. Does this happen to anybody else?

I never heard of anyone breaking out from avocado.
You said that your skin stays "mostly" clear if you don't eat avocado. But if avocado would be the culprit, your skin would be TOTALLY clear ALL the time not eating avocado, but that is not the case.
So, there MUST be something else; maybe hormonal.

I don't understand the logic of your last statement Wai. It is a false syllogism.

What he/she said is that his/her skin stays mostly clear except when he/she eats avacado. Then a day later or so he/she gets PAINFUL zits.

That might mean that OTHER FOOD can cause very mild acne, OR that the very absence of BAD FOOD ("dirty protein") almost clears him/her completely, HOWEVER AVOCADO makes him/her really break out. The connection AVOCADO = PIMPLES is possible whether or not his/her skin is perfect the rest of the time.

I'm sorry, I should clarify. I am clear except for the times I choose to have a couple drinks on the weekends. But then I get clear again and eat an avacado, about a day later I always get a very painful under the skin zit on my cheek. Whenever I drink or eat a bad food, the pimples are always small and go away the next day. It's just weird that an avacado would do this.

Thank you for clearing that up Taylor.
So, indeed there is one culprit for sure: the drinks.
Now, to check out whether avocado can really cause acne in you, you need to eliminate all possible culprits from your diet. So no more drinks during this period of experimentation (or any other munch food), but also no avocado at first.
If you then manage to stay totally clear, then add the avocado back into your diet (not the drinks) and see if the avocado makes you break out.

Only by eliminating ALL possible culprits from your diet, and then adding 'the suspect' back in, can you get to know if that specific food causes acne in you. Until then, you can never know for sure, what exactly is caused by what.
That is why there is so much confusion in acne patients about what causes acne, and what not. And that is also why most people are convinced that there is no correlation between diet and acne at all; because it is almost impossible to be sure about any correlation if not ALL culprits are eliminated first. Until then, we can only SPECULATE.
