| hollymbk 11-07-2002 04:03 PM | Hi I haven't been here a while, hi wai! I had tried the diet for 30 days last year with great results. At the end of 30 days wai told me I was eating too much fish, but, I felt I couldn't stay on the diet with out it. i craved the fish intensly. I listened though and stoppedeating so much and promptly broke down and had pizza, etc... and quit. Months later I mustered up the courage to do it again, I tried just eating the eggs and very little fish, I added raw lettuce, spinach, peppers, and carrots. I tried to lower my fruit intake also and eat more a balance of veggies and fruit. I felt terrible after two weeks, instead of energized like the first time. My skin broke out worse. My joint pain did go away at seven days just like the first time. I though it was the lettuce and veggies detoxing me too fast, then I thought it was not enough fruit, then I thought it was not eating honey like I did the first time. I couldn't figure it out. I noticed on the diet that I broke out 24 hours after I had fish. Someone else had done the diet like I did and gave up too, he craved the fish too and ate too much according to the diet. Its a year later now and he came on to absoluteacneinfo recently claiming he had found his cure. He started high dosing fish oil. It made sense to me because I always crave fish and he had such a similar experience with this diet as did. So I knew already that I have to take 2 capsules in the morning everyday and can't function without it. If I don't take it I am very crabby and disfunctional and my hair falls out. so now I just take it at every meal, now after two weeks, half my face is 100% clear. It is the first time I ever had results like this, besides when I went on this diet. Now I believe that it was my not eating fish that caused my failure on the diet. Currently I am eating fruits and veggies about 30% of the time, I am eating pretty badly otherwise, but,am still clearing if I take the fish oil with every meal. I have done a lot of reading about the oils and there are a few books I recommend, one is, "The Omega Rx Zone" by Barry Sears. He is a lipid scientist and recommends a diet based on 40/30/30 protein/carb/fat and then high dosing fish oil. I think this is the key to acne. controllingyour blood sugar and eating omega 3 in the form of fish oil with every meal. I think the conversion of omega 6's in our bodies is flawed and eating omega 6's causes our oils to be inflamatory. It's to long to explain, but, the fish oil basically overrides the inflamatory process of the omega 6, so unless you are eating a meal with fish, take fish oil with every meal and after an initial breakout for the first week, you will rapidl clear if this is your problem that causes your acne. the best brand I have found is: twinlabs-Dale Alexander emulsified omega fish oil concentrate. I take one teaspoon with every meal, unless I am eating fish. Also eat more fish oil with meals that have high omega 6 content in them, like burgers. So basically, my theory is that our acne prone skin is full of an inflamatory sticky clogging oil and if you eat fish oil it will push this stuff out and replace itwith slick oil and nomore acne! I do recommend eating a diet very close to wais diet for no cellulite and no joint pain, because by just adding the fat to your diet that doesn't go away even if you acne does. I am gaining weight, have joint pain, and I have had a headache for two weeks. So I am not bashing her diet, I just am having great results with fish oil and want to tell you it might be the extra fish that is actully helping the acne. I thought it was making me breakout at 24 hours, but, maybe itwas keeping me clear. Also, be aware that the oil you choose for your fat is very important. I used flax oil,which is an omega 3, but, it is an incomplete three and I think this is one of the big problems in people with acne. I think we must eat fish oil becasue it is a complete oil,meaning that your body doesn't have to convert it into epa and dha, its already in that form. I think that is why after eating flax oil for 6 months my hair started falling out and I was very depressed. my body cannot convert the flax (ala) into epa and dha. I ameithermissing the enzyme that does this or my insulin crushes that process. So when people tell you to take flax oil, realize that it may not work for you like fish oil would and that is why. Also be aware that omega 6 oils, including vitminE in theform of soybean oil maybeok to use on topically, but, internally may be becoming the inflamatory oil that is breaking us out. Currently I am researching omega 9's to see their relationship to this (olive oil) So when choosing your fat, learn what omega 3,6, and 9's are. Don't just take a balanced fat supplement because taking any omega 6's may be the problem (for me) find the best sources of the omegasand play with the combo and see what works for you. I don't think you can tell for atleast two weeks, either because the oils have to have time to be "changed out" which may cause someinflammation. If you are trying the diet, I would definately, eat raw fish everyday and take olive oil, try to avoid any omega 6's, in nuts too, and see if this works. there is a chance also that the balance is what will do it and there are people who eat extreme raw vegan, low fat, lifestyles who may eat not enough omega 6's, so who knows if that person would actually need 6's, or even 9's. I believe the key to acne though is in finding the right oil balance for your body to make your pores run properly. the best sources i've found are: omega 3- fish oil omega 6-evening primrose oil(can become inflammatory-breaks me out) omega 9-olive oil so I am going to try taking more olive oil now to get my nines too, but, the fish oilis working so great I am hesitant. |

| hollymbk 11-28-2002 09:39 AM | Its been a month and I am still doing great. i have no cravings and can go long periods of time without eating and feel fine. i am still ninety five percent clear and i have improved my diet more now towards Wai's diet plan, I am still taking the fish oil about four times a day. I even made it through my monthly cycle with only one pimple instead of a hundred. So I know for me the fish is the answer. i think if people eat fish everyday, their results will be much better. |
