you know when you crack a Brazil nut and the nut is covered with a thin brown "peel", should it be removed? ..using a knife, for example?
Does it contain enzyme inhibitors or something?

I eat the thin brown skin. I remove any woody part that might be stuck after removing from the shell. I have no idea if it contains any enzyme inhibitors.

When I eat coconut, I remove the brown skin after removal from the shell. Mostly for personal tastes. I find it easier to digest, and tastes better without the skin.
