I don't know if this has happened to any of you, but I bought nuts (preshelled) and opened them and put them in the cupboard and in only a month or even less, there were bugs in it! I even ate a couple before I realized this....and this made me so disgusted that I went back to the cupboard and threw out anything that wasn't canned or bottled. Now I keep all my nuts in the refrigerator. Is that OK, Wai? Do you think the bugs came because I keep my apartment so warm? YUCK!

That is something you should never do. The shells are there to protect the nuts from going bad...
You should open the nuts before consumption (that same day).

no, it is not. The fridge is filled with bacteria and moulds. You should simply not open the nuts until right before consumption.
