| Wai 01-15-2003 12:30 PM | quote:In general fatty nuts contain the least enzyminhibitors, and are best digested. Pecan nuts contain as much fat as Brazil nuts and macadamia nuts, but I don't know whether they are digested well; whether they contain much enzyminhibitors. sorry ![]() |
| Wai 01-15-2003 12:33 PM | quote:cashews are harder to digest (and contain little fat) Also, 'unsalted' is not enough; you need to find nuts that are still in their shell, and this shell needs to be completely intact. |
| engesongwok 02-25-2003 07:11 PM | About cashews...from what I understand almost ALL cashews are cooked, even the ones that say "RAW". Due to the way that most industries open them. Notice how one never sees cashews sold still in the shell? Thats because cashew nuts are encased in a shell which contains poisons. Most companies open the shell with steaming, boiling or roasting. It opens the shell somehow, without getting the poison into the nut. This is a 'raw' cashew, even though its been cooked. These cooked nuts are then heated a SECOND time to produce a 'roasted' nut. So if you eat roasted cashews, its 'twice baked'. There is one company I know of that produces truely raw cashews. I don't know if I am allowed to say the name. I will leave it up to you to find it. |
