I soak flax seeds in water over night and then blend them in the morning with fruit as a shake. Is that ok? Should i discard the water from the soaked flax seeds first? I have heard that the water may contain enzyme inhibitors.

I honestly don't know whether flax seeds contain enzyminhibitors; many seeds do.
What I don't like about linseed, is that they are very high in fiber: 39% !!!
They contain 19% insoluble fiber, which may burden your bowels too much. Excessive fiber hinders the uptake of certain nutrients and causes gasses.

So, they DO contain enzyminhibitors...?
Personally, I wouldn't consume these seeds (or their oil) at all as they also contain high levels of phyto-estrogens, which interfere with your natural hormone metabolism. Also, the level of linolenic acid is too high.

from my understanding, they do contain enzyme inhibitors, but of course i could be wrong. But then again, ground flax seeds are sold in health food stores all the time. I assume that if the seeds are not sprouted and have not been soaked, the enzyme inhibitors will remain. I will try researching this matter further.

that what is sold in health food stores is certainly not always healthy.
They sell lots of foods there that can only be properly digested by animals with 4 stomachs or a gouter, or any other specialized digestive system.
Why do you think that most people that buy their food in those stores look so terribly unhealthy?
