| monica 09-06-2002 01:58 PM | Are there any concerns about chemicals used on non organic nuts? Can they get inside the shell? And while i am at it, what about fruit? If i peel the fruit have the pesticides/chemical already gotten inside the skin into the flesh? And what about peeling the skin...am i removing important nutrients as well? What do you do???? |
| Wai 09-08-2002 01:43 PM | quote:No, the shell of Macadamia nuts and Brazil nuts is incredibly powerful. quote:Most of the pesticides remain in / on the skin/peel, so it is a big help to peel all fruits. Of course, fruits on which no pesticides have been sprayed are preferable, but not always available / affordable. quote:Peeling the skin is the best that you can do. The flesh contains all the essential nutrients. You are not missing out on anything by removing the peel. I always peel all my fruits (even grapes). |

I've definately noticed that i am less bloated now, but i wasn't sure it that was because of the cleaning effect of the fruit or less fiber. |
| Wai 09-10-2002 11:10 AM | quote:If drinking juices only, and consuming some animal food, nuts and avocado, you will still absorb all the fiber you 'need'. The less fiber is consumed, the less gasses will be caused, simply because fiber cannot be enzymatically decomposed, just bacterially, which always originates gasses. No, fiber is not an essential nutrient. quote:Because of less fiber. |
