| Author | Topic: Tahini = RAW sesame seed? |
| monica 09-12-2002 08:01 AM | what do you think? Seems as though it has be from an unshelled seed?? |
| Wai 09-12-2002 11:21 AM | Tahini cannot possibly be raw, because it is no longer seeds that contain their protective layer, because these seeds are totally crushed/grinded. And thus it needs some heat-treatment to increase its shelf life. (otherwise, it would not last a day) |
| monica 09-12-2002 08:14 PM | hmmm....i guess they can get away with stating 'raw' on the label if they started with raw sesami seeds, even if they heated them in the process. ![]() |
