If I can find a nut butter that hasn't been cooked (which I wonder if I can do) would that be ok to eat? I really love peanut butter and soy nut butter but I've seen all other kinds. I just hope they aren't cooked.
Thanks! I'm really enjoying this diet so far (2 days): it hasn't been hard at all (altho I don't eat the eggs or the fish- I'm going to get nuts today).

Today I had 2 oranges, 1 apple, 1 banana, about 1 cup each of cantaloupe, honeydew, and pineapple, about 2-3 cups each of tomato and cucumber, some lettuce, about 2 avocados (3in long), a few tbsp (3ish) of raw cashew butter, ~1/2 tbsp olive oil, and 2 bites of dark chocolate.

Hello,
As Wai suggests you should supplement with
B12 if you are not eating the fish or eggs. Looking forward to hearing about your progress.

they only way to abtain raw 'nut butter' is by simply squasing them thoroughly.
But even then they are very likely not made of hand-shelled nuts (since that is very expensive).
I think it will be extremely difficult to find a real raw nut-butter. Also because it would have an extremely short shelf life.
If the nut butter is not toally raw, it can EASILY cause acne... [Frown]

Ooops. who said you could eat that?
what makes you think that the butter is from raw nuts, shelled by hand?
What exactly is the processing used to make the butter?

the sample diet excludes choclate.
Only once your skin is totally clear, you can start experimenting with how much chocolate your skin can cope with without getting acne again.

These can NEVER be raw.
Peanuts are already roasted in the shell, and taste really bad if they are not.
Soy needs to be intensively procesed to destroy all the enzyminihibitors, see http://www.2.waisays.com/plants.htm

Are you vegan, or didn't you for some other reason?

I'm vegan. I'm going to research and rethink the egg issue because it makes sense that in the wild humans would've eaten eggs.

::Sigh:: nut butter reply and transgression

This is what the company told me about their nut butters. I assume any heat is too much..sigh.
"During the grinding process, the nuts are exposed to some heat for about 1/2
second or so, while passing through the grinder, then it's immediately
vacuum sealed in the jar. We feel that it does not reach a high temperature
in this 1/2 second and does not compromise it's raw qualities."
My skin has cleared up a lot and looks much smoother after only these few days. Of course I don't know how much of that is due to my cycle but it does look more alive than usual.
Tonight I was bad and had some nut butter, ginger cookies, and yam chips. Such a difference when one eats cooked foods; even wheat and dairy free foods are addictive. I was full yet kept eating. Right now some friends are visiting and I have a bad habit of eating around them...so silly b/c I know what I'm doing wrong but I can't seem to stop.
I do feel that this diet is putting me in the right direction, and that I don't want to beat myself up for these transgressions. Still no excuse however.
Looking forward to some cantaloupe in the morning, that's for sure.
In this for the long haul, (ordered some shelled Brazil nuts today)
Thanks for all the support

Please don't feel bad about not sticking to the sample diet. There is no reason to, and it does not help you.
Maybe it doesn't even affect your skin; In general, one-time cheating (even when big-time), has less influence on your skin than cheating a little bit on a daily basis.

There is nothing wrong with cheating, you just start with day one of the sample diet again. Nothing has got lost!!!
At least you have enjoyed the chips, cookies and nut butter.

PS: I copied your last post to this thread, since I feel that your post is essential to this thread; I hope you don't mind.

A good article about the making of nut butters and ones they consider raw.
