| Someperson 09-15-2002 06:50 PM | Is there any stores to buy Brazil Nuts? I am just wondering because i will not be allowed to order food off online. It seems risky. Does anyone get there nuts at stores? |
| Wai 09-16-2002 12:04 PM | I buy my raw nuts (in the shell) from whole sale retailers. (a one year supply (35 gram a day) = 25 kg = about 75 Dollar) Just look up all whole sale retailers (nuts and dried fruits) in your region, and ask them the price of a 25 kg bag. It is almost the Brazil nut season again! (Oct/Nov) |

| Chris10astra 10-18-2002 06:04 AM | I found Brazil nuts in a regular store! With the shells still on and everything. There were bins of mixed nuts (walnuts, pecans, etc) all with the shells on and I walk over and am so surprised to see Brazil nuts. I didn't get as many as I do online they are less expensive online but still, wow. As well as the loose Brazil nuts I bought a bag of Diamond Mixed Nuts, with walnuts, Brazil nuts, almonds, hazelnuts, and pecans. They all have their shells still on but the package says the hazelnut shells have been bleached with sulfiting agent. Eh, don't know what to think of that. I don't know if the nuts in the bag have been roasted but I guess if they still have their shells on they're ok? The diamondnuts.com website mentions their technology and refridgeration but says nothing about roasting them. Just wondering and wanted to say that Brazil nuts can be found. ![]() |
| Wai 10-18-2002 06:10 AM | quote:These nuts normally are not roasted in the shell, so they probably are safe. quote:That just affects the shell, not the nut, so these are safe too. quote:That does not go for nuts such as peanuts and pistachios, which are already roasted in the shell. |
| jay 04-01-2003 08:04 AM | In the UK I have bought two sacks (each 28pound/12.6kg) from Allnut Health Foods, Basildon, Essex. Only about 3percent are bad. The sacks were about 2lb/900g overweight. They are last years harvest, and in good condition. They deliver anywhere in mainland UK and could deliver to a seaport for collection by someone on a day trip. A 28 pound sack costs 30UKP (45 euros). Delivery to Cambridge is 5UKP Their telephone number in the UK is: 01268 729570 Fax:01268 729521 Outside the UK replace the 01268 by your international code +441268 For Netherlands they suggested 'King Nuts' which is +31 172 632231. |

| mjkst27 04-18-2003 09:14 PM | How long do Brazils and Mac's stay fresh in the shell? |
| Wai 04-25-2003 05:07 AM | when you buy really fresh nuts (in the shell), some of them have already gone bad (just a few), and as time goes by, more will go bad but, as experience has learned me, even after 2 (or more) years, 50% of the nuts can still be totally okay (and can perfectly be consumed), because the nuts are perfectly protected if the shell is 100% intact So, one cannot possibly say how long these nuts remain 'fresh'; since the main criterium is edibility, and this differs VERY strongly per single nut... some remain 'fresh' for years (in the shell, that is) |
