| Carolyn 10-02-2002 01:27 PM | Can anybody please help me out here? As part of my munch food for the day i love making shrimp coctail, but i dont know how many grams of protein shrimps contain - does anyone know for sure? And i guess king prawns have the same protein content right? YUMMEE |
| Wai 10-03-2002 08:14 AM | quote:For nutrient contents of foods, you can always check The USDA Nutrient Database Also, the protein contents of munch foods are listed here: http://www.freeacnebook.com/47-53.htm#53 (scroll a bit down the page) Brown shrimps contain 19% protein. Crustacean, shrimp, mixed species, raw: 20% protein (press the "report" button) quote:I think that will be not much different, indeed. |

| Carolyn 10-03-2002 11:11 AM | i just realised what you said 20 %!!! oh my god oops hehehe i think i had a protein overdose there...ill be more careful next time! ![]() |
| Carolyn 10-03-2002 11:16 AM | And by the way...is there any difference between wholemeal & white bread? i dont mean protein content - they are roughly the same - both 8.something per 100g but what about anything else - is one more constipating or better to eat? Thanks! |
| Carolyn 10-03-2002 11:20 AM | My browser wont open the USDA nutrient database page! is there anther reliable page than you can recommend? the link just wont work! ![]() |
| Wai 10-03-2002 12:07 PM | quote:They are equally constipating, but whole meal bread may more likely cause cramps / bloating, because of containing more fiber; by consuming bread, you ingest both 'uppers' (fiber) and 'downers' (opioid peptides, beta-carbolines), and this can drive your bowels crazy, causing 'Irritable Bowel syndrome'-like symptoms. quote:hmm, I tried the link, but it works. Can you acces the main page at: http://www.nal.usda.gov/ ? There you can click on "publications and Databases"; its the 7th link from the left upper corner down: http://www.nal.usda.gov/pubs_dbs/ Then you need to click on "Databases" written in pink, next to "publications": http://www.nal.usda.gov/pubs_dbs/#dbs Then you need to click on "USDA Nutrient Database for Standard Reference", which is the 2nd link from the bottom: http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/cgi-bin/nut_search.pl |
| Carolyn 10-04-2002 01:34 PM | None of the links are working for me i do not know what is wrong! It dosent matter leave it thanks anyway wai. ![]() |
