| Sanna 02-04-2003 08:59 AM | I've heard that chiquita bananas are "washed" in toxic solutions of pesticides and stuff and that the peel doesn't protect the fruit inside from these poisonous substances...we ingest lots of bad stuff if we eat those bananas. true? And then there is the issue of the poor people who collect them, that they are constantly breathing the toxic pesticide fumes, hardly if at all paid etc...how is it? Should we buy organic bananas instead of big names like chiquita/consul/rico? Are there less pesticides involved in the "processing" of the organic bananas? I have even heard that organic bananas contain a lot more nutrients, too. Do you avoid chiquita? |
